IoT is making a lot of uproar at the moment. With the footprints that IoT has been leaving, people are incorporating it in their daily lives.
FREMONT, CA: The Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionizing people's lives; IoT is now portable, wearable, and implantable, creating a connected universe and transforming physical objects that surround people into an ecosystem of information that is rapidly changing the way people live. By the year 2020, there will be around 20 billion internet-connected devices up-and-running, and that number is expected to skyrocket. Given below is a list of some of the more unique IoT devices people can expect to see shortly.
• Smart Refrigerators
The smart refrigerator features a Local Area Network (LAN) port for internet connectivity enables the user to play music, check the weather, schedule out tasks, and even video conference. Presently most of them have tablets on the front to draw grocery list and the transfer the list through the mobile application. Also, some have cameras inside them, allowing the user to check while at the grocery store. In the future, through radio frequency tag identification, users can also enjoy the convenience of smart refrigerators monitoring expiration dates of food items. When a particular thing is no longer fresh to use, the user will be notified via the app.
• Autonomous Car
Smart car technology is not new, and cars have evolved from mere means of transportation to voice commanded entertainment, navigation, and self-parking systems. The next stage of innovation is coming in the form of fully autonomous cars. Vehicle to vehicle technology will enable cars to interact with each other. Smart technology will also contribute to the rise of autonomous vehicles.
• Smart Toothbrush
The smart toothbrushes in the market today allow users to visualize the inner part of mouths via mobile app and front-facing camera. Users can see which areas of their mouth require brushing and can even keep track of their brushing habits. Through AI, a user can be notified through a mobile app that they should probably schedule a dentist appointment soon. Smart toothbrushes in near future act as a handheld digital assistant.
Robotics has come up with a possible solution for people who have paralysis, that is IoT powered exoskeletons. It is an external robotic suit that supports the user by utilizing real-time data. Because injury can happen from falling, exoskeletons must be able to make quick adjustments before becoming a mainstream solution.
Today's IoT producers are pumping as many capabilities as possible to a device. An ingenious IoT device should be easy to use, provide valuable service, and its security features must be robust. When more of these devices become connected, the IoT ecosystem is sure to take off.
