In an interview with Life Science Review magazine, Benafsha Irani, Managing Partner at West Coast Consulting Group, talks about how their agile consulting and peer-to-peer learning approach can enable businesses to implement cloud infrastructure and undergo digital transformation effectively.
What challenges do you see clients struggling with within the healthcare space?
Today, every healthcare business wants to undergo a digital transformation to supports its remote workforce. Companies are investing in tools and technologies to transform and automate their manual operations and communication systems to engage their remote workforce. Furthermore, when the world got hit by the pandemic, communicating something to someone in person was no longer an option. To that end, businesses were purchasing the latest technologies that could help them streamline their workflows and internal/external communications between stakeholders, employees, and customers. However, due to a disparity in adopting technologies and a lack of associated design architecture, companies are finding themselves in a tough spot when it comes to aligning tools with their business operations.
What has substantiated West Coast Consulting Group’s success as a company?
West Coast Consulting Group focuses primarily on the Salesforce ecosystem and scales with it. We are currently developing three apps to help clients scale their processes and comply with the regulations. One of them is focused on the healthcare space, more precisely, on the medical device companies. The app, Salesforce Health Cloud, helps a company’s sales team simplify complex processes and achieve success in the cloud. Many of our clients are in close collaboration with IPOs, where they are required to deal with various compliance, including HIPAA. They need to ensure that all their processes are integrated with the finance systems. We help them ensure the same, which is one of the unique factors that help us stand out in the market. We empower companies to grow their processes and change their business operations.
What methodology does West Coast Consulting leverage to help clients achieve their goals?
We follow an agile model that starts from week one, where we come in and understand the clients’ expectations and then chalk out a plan discovery process for them. After that, we guide the DC executives and stakeholders through the whole process of the Salesforce Health Cloud. Once they understand the application, we iterate the process and bring in the data to integrate with their other systems and provide necessary training. By the time the whole onboarding process is done, clients get so involved with Salesforce Health Cloud that they learn it inside out.
Another factor that ensures West Coast Consulting Group’s success is the way our team members facilitate impressive client engagements. They make sure to understand how clients plan to utilize the system and monitor their performance post-implementation. In addition, they will use industry best practices to develop the system and share previous success stories to show the client how West Coast will improve their ecosystem.
Can you provide a case study where you helped one of the clients attain success?
A medical device company had hired an implementation partner that was supposed to revamp their paper and spreadsheet-based sales methodology and move it to the Salesforce ecosystem. However, they were unable to do it with success. Finally, the client contacted Salesforce for assistance, which suggested three partners. We observed their sales, supply chain, and finance processes to understand how they run the approval workflows alongside managing contracts, territories, and opportunities. We also looked into the operations they managed outside Salesforce and how they could integrate them with the finance system. The client also required HIPAA compliance from a systems perspective. Further, when it came to their field service domain, the systems involved were not configured correctly, which could impact lives negatively as the client dealt with critical medical devices.
