Collaboration, as Michael Jordan puts it, is the key to long-term success. “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.” Outside of a basketball court as well, inside glass buildings from where companies work relentlessly to make the world a better place, collaboration is the ingredient to success. Fortunately, technological innovations today permit never-before-like collaboration capabilities. Unfortunately, despite the growing number of collaboration tools in the market for emails, messages, content management, cloud storage, to social network systems, building a collaborative organization is easier said than done. In a recent interview with Kyugon Cho, CEO of Fasoo, we discuss how collaboration tools make it easy for teams to work on documents, share knowledge, and stay in sync.
In your conversations with industry personnel, what do you find are the challenges and how can Fasoo help?
The journey of organizations in the current information age is a double-edged sword, because with each collaboration tool, information gets siloed, leaving behind redundant, obsolete, and trivial (ROT) data, whose value is unknown. Facilitating secure information sharing and process flows across organizational boundaries increases productivity and creates opportunities for enhanced responsiveness and innovation. To address the need for secure data collaboration, Fasoo brings to the table a modern, intuitive enterprise collaboration solution, Wrapsody, which solves issues with information management and ROT data.
Wrapsody is a product of our years of unparalleled expertise in data-centric security. It is designed to provide file-level content management, collaboration, and security for organizations without impacting productivity. With Wrapsody, we take a unique approach to information management—a file-centric one, rather than a message- or repository-centric.
What are some of the trends that are shaping the collaboration space and Fasoo’s market posture?
Today, data sharing plays a vital role in setting up and closing business deals. In most cases, the data to be shared is highly confidential and sensitive, and hence organizations should be cautious about what they share, how they share it, and who can see it. In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made inroads into this space, enabling seamless content analysis and greater data security. The use of AI is helping organizations to reinvigorate workplaces by automating collaboration processes and reducing manual user interventions. Nevertheless, AI-powered workplaces require a significant amount of computing resources, and it is impractical to deploy content analysis technology in a workplace without eliminating ROT information in advance.
Fasoo brings to the table a modern, intuitive enterprise collaboration solution, Wrapsody, which solves issues with information management, information silo, and ROT information
With Wrapsody, Fasoo helps to minimize the ROT information fundamentally and enables organizations to implement content analysis for process automation and enterprise-grade security.
The key to Wrapsody is a unique, persistent file ID that follows a document and allows secure sharing, distribution and tracking, and version control at the data source across all locations. This ID gathers all the metadata of a document, ensuring that all content management and security functionality are available anytime and anywhere. It also provides features such as automatic file synchronization, backup and data protection, instant version control, and audit trails at the rendering application layer, so that users do not need to manually save data in designated folders or upload data to content management systems. Since user access and version control is done at the file-level, there are no chances of information silo and ROT information occurrences. This way of embedding security guarantees efficient backup of all document versions, and keeps the update history including the messages exchanged around the document. Wrapsody also provides an audit trail of wherever the document has traveled, and through an intuitive dashboard, users can view how a piece of information in the document is deployed for business growth. Since documents are always protected and tracked by Wrapsody, complying with new cybersecurity regulations becomes an easy task.
Applying behavioral analytics is also gaining traction among organizations as a means to get business insights that can enable their employees to collaborate effectively, producing a more educated, skilled, and engaged workforce. However, to get meaningful insights, raw data should be clean and reliable. Wrapsody guarantees to glean actual usage logs of all enterprise documents with rich context, irrespective of where the documents are located and provide reliable data and a proven analytic scheme to identify actionable insights that drive valuable business outcomes.
Can you provide a case study that highlights the usability of your solution?
Businesses that use Wrapsody, experience gradual changes in the way they work, with the focus more on documents rather than on processes. In one instance, a leading oil and gas company faced day-to-day operational challenges due to their workforce being spread across distributed offices, job sites, wells, drilling rigs, and other off-site locations. The main goal of the client was to consolidate their information management infrastructure to seamlessly manage all of their unstructured data, especially the localized data, for improving collaboration, efficiency, and security. Fasoo was instrumental in helping the client retain every copy of its digital asset created by all users, increase information assets, provide actionable business insights, and construct a productive knowledge management infrastructure.
What according to you is your key differentiating factor? And how does the future look like for Fasoo over the next 12 to 18 months?
At the core of what differentiates Fasoo are its file-level security integration and overall information management solutions that help organizations protect, control, and trace data throughout the enterprise and get their jobs done in the fastest and best way possible. In line with this mission of information protection, we are planning to conduct a new consulting program with leading consulting firms to help customers collaborate more effectively and share information both internally and externally. Today, organizations believe that IoT is the driving force behind a successful digital transformation, but I believe, enabling the Internet of Documents (IoD) should be a mainstay and the initial step of the digital journey. IoD can sense and control an organization’s digital assets, enabling them to find a file easily, preserve it for longer times, use it across multiple channels, while maintaining the integrity of contents. We are at the forefront of providing innovative solutions and consulting services that focus more on IoD, not IoT.
