Thank you for Subscribing to CIO Applications Weekly Brief
In a recent interview with CIO Applications, Soy Joseph, Director of Technology and Founder of Velocis Technologies, shares insights on the challenges enterprises face today and how Velocis' value proposition addresses them.
Could you give us a brief overview of Velocis?
With 22 years of hands-on experience in implementing and managing solutions across diverse enterprise technology stacks, I founded Velocis in 2012. We began as an on prem systems integrator and emerged as a professional services company partnering with Oracle. We go above and beyond Oracle product-suite implementations, with our expertise on many other cloud and on-prem solutions and technologies. Our main goal is to provide customers with a secure application experience. To that end, we've had multiple successful Oracle implementations, whether it be on the cloud, on-prem, or in a hybrid model. The big portion of repeat customers that we have is a testimony to the quality of service that we bring to the table.
What are some of the challenges that your clients face today? And how do you address them?
Security has always been a major concern for companies. They are uncertain about securing and theft-proofing their applications and resources even as the threat landscape continues to evolve alarmingly. Although Oracle brings out security patches every quarter, clients often wonder what their impact would be. We work with the IT team to educate on them on the threat score and the impact of unpatched systems and components at the enterprise level. We don't simply 'implement products.' We work closely with the clients' IT team to understand their whole IT spectrum. We can, for example, identify vulnerable ports and modify their firewall configurations to ensure they are not exposed. We can enforce rules that only allow traffic from certain IP addresses or applications to connect to the internal systems. For access control external to the clients’ networks, we interface applications to the demilitarized zone (DMZ). Put simply, we enable clients to attain end-to-end security. We can even ensure that the security components for an application in the cloud remain on-prem. After all, many companies, as opposed to leveraging cloud-based access management, prefer to stick with on-prem identity and access management because it feels more secure. We also educate businesses about various security vulnerabilities with cloud or network architectures.
We try to reduce the amount of product management overhead for the clients. We ensure that the product components are leveraged by the client in a sustainable manner that enables them to continue the innovation roadmap. In effect, we help materialize end-to-end secure application implementation. If the customer is comfortable, we can go live in pieces by embracing a DevOps model even for Oracle implementations.
Could you walk us through Velocis' portfolio of offerings?
Our core competency lies in securing the enterprise resources and applications whether it be in the on-prem datacenters or in the cloud. We also provide professional consulting services for content management and application integration and multi-cloud architecture. We are an oracle and AWS partner, working closely with the customers and vendors to choose what is best for the IT investment. We enable end-to-end security through Oracle identity and access management such as OKTA and identity cloud services security (IDCS). In terms of non-oracle enterprise solutions, our firm implements single sign-on (SSO), credential management, and risk analysis. We do managed services and strive to support our customers in every way possible throughout their IT lifecycle. In a nutshell, we focus on strategizing and customizing secure solutions that are scalable and cost-effective to our clients’ growth rate.
What differentiates Velocis from its competitors?
We don’t follow a cookie-cutter implementation plan. Instead, we go through what we call the 3DiPS process— Discovery, Design, and deployment, Test (Investigate), Production go-live and Support. We try our best to ensure that every stakeholder and business owner are in the same room, to agree on the architecture and components used in the implementation. Our associates analyze the customer requirements and develop a strategy of implementing, testing, and go-live. On the one hand, Oracle is happy that our experts have been innovatively using its products for multiple years.

Could you share with us a customer success story?
One of our recent clients is a leading services company who had inconvenience in sending invoices and financial statements to thousands of customers and vendors every month. They required a cloud portal for its end-users to get financial documents on-demand. To address this, Velocis used multiple services from the Oracle cloud identity, to build a portal in the cloud that can securely fetch financial documents that are stored securely in the on-premises content repository. Our experts built a secure, customized and reliable integrated cloud solution to retrieve documents from the repository, where the client has been storing 12 terabytes of financial documents for over the years.
What does the roadmap look like for Velocis?
Having established a strong presence in USA and India, we envision growing Velocis into a global solution provider. Also, we started our Oracle operations recently in Nairobi, Kenya. Due to the huge demand for security in emerging enterprises, we plan to expand our horizons into other continents, especially in Africa and the Middle East. Be it for small, medium, or large businesses, there are many opportunities to help clients with security, cloud experience, integration, and content management. Looking ahead, we'd continue to broaden the scope of these offerings.
