Ujigami has been recognized by CIO Applications Magazine as the recipient of “Top Digital Manufacturing Solutions 2026,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry. This profile has been developed by the CIO Applications research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Edward Dickson, President.
Edward Dickson, PresidentIn many manufacturing environments, planning and execution remain disconnected. Production orders are generated in ERP systems or simulation tools, but translating those plans into coordinated action on the plant floor still depends on manual interpretation, indirect communication, and fragmented systems. Ujigami addresses this gap by acting as a real-time execution system that continuously connects planning inputs to real-time activity across operations.
Rather than requiring manufacturers to adopt rigid Industry 4.0 standards or replace existing infrastructure, Ujigami works within the current plant environment. The platform connects with legacy machines, modern equipment, CAD systems, ERP platforms, and Business Intelligence tools, allowing manufacturers to coordinate execution without restructuring their technology stack. This capability has also earned Ujigami recognition as a Top Digital Manufacturing Solution.
“Ujigami allows manufacturers to bypass the need for standardization. We connect different equipment and systems and coordinate them within a unified environment,” says Edward Dickson, president.
As conditions change on the plant floor, the system updates instantly. If materials are unavailable, priorities shift, or workflows need adjustment, Ujigami redirects tasks and updates all affected roles in real time. This ensures that execution remains aligned with current production needs, reducing delays and preventing miscommunication.
A key differentiator is that this coordination does not require PLC programming or custom software development. Workflows are configured through a guided, selection-based interface accessible via a standard web browser. This allows manufacturers to define, modify, and deploy execution processes quickly, without specialized technical expertise.
Ujigami also captures and delivers operational knowledge directly within the workflow. Instructions are presented to operators in context, based on their role and position within a process. This ensures consistent execution, reduces dependence on experience or memory, and enables faster onboarding of new personnel.
The impact of this approach is particularly evident in material and inventory management. In one implementation, a manufacturing plant reliant on paper-based warehouse processes experienced recurring inefficiencies and inventory losses. After deploying Ujigami’s warehouse management capabilities, operations shifted to a fully digital, real-time system.
Material handlers receive task-based instructions for material movement and retrieval. When a component is not available at the expected location, the system immediately redirects them to an alternative source while updating the system to prevent repeated attempts by others. This reduces wasted effort and improves coordination across the plant.
As a result, production stoppages caused by material shortages were eliminated, and inventory accuracy improved significantly. Monthly inventory counts were no longer required, and losses were reduced to minimal variances.
Ujigami also improves the effectiveness of ERP systems by ensuring that data is captured at the point of execution. Material consumption, production output, and inventory movements are recorded in real time, allowing ERP systems to operate with accurate and current information rather than delayed or manually entered data.
By directly connecting planning to execution and coordinating all roles in real time, Ujigami reduces delays between decision and action. Manufacturers are able to execute production plans faster, adapt to changing conditions more effectively, and improve operational efficiency without the need for complex system overhauls or custom development.
