At the helm of this medical innovation is TrackMy Solutions. The technology provider is focused on making medical record data readily accessible and actionable for healthcare providers to improve their patients’ overall health. To that end, the company has developed an innovative end-to-end solution to help both healthcare entities and the public ensure timely and widespread COVID-19 vaccination for all.
In an interview with the editorial team of CIO Applications, Kyle Peterman, CTO of TrackMy Solutions, discusses at length how his company is redefining patient safety in the digital age.
Could you provide a brief overview of your company?
TrackMy Solutions was formed because of an event that our company’s CEO, Jeremy Elias, encountered about four and a half years ago. His best friend’s grandfather passed away because of a faulty pacemaker. Although they had figured out the defective battery issue a week before, it was too late for grandpa until the faulty product was recalled and replaced in the market. This experience led Elias to pay closer attention to the problem, as this was definitely not a one-off instance. And he was determined to find a solution to the problem.
At that point, Elias and a few others, including me, were working in our day jobs in healthcare IT companies across Kansas City. So, we started working together on our passion project during the evenings and weekends. The result of our unwavering commitment was TrackMy Solutions.
One of our proud moments was when we launched our first product called— TrackMy Implants. This innovative solution makes it possible to track implantable medical devices for recalls helping both patients and doctors monitor the implant and get notified ahead of time if it has any issue. How it’s done? Patients can sign up on the TrackMy Solutions website and link their device information with their TrackMy Implants account. TrackMy Solutions then actively monitors the FDA and manufacturer databases for device recalls. If we find a match between your device and our proprietary recall algorithm, we immediately send a device recall alert via email. This information is then stored in the Alerts section of your account, where you can read about the recall. Besides, TrackMy Implants also has a database of user-saved devices that have been recalled in the past, and anytime a new TrackMy Implants user logs in with those recalled products, they are notified to seek immediate medical attention.
Over the years, we have grown considerably, and amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we started working with governments and local authorities to ensure large-scale vaccination drives that began in early 2021. Most of the public agencies we were talking to had the idea in terms of how they wanted the mass vaccination drive to look like, in theory, but they did not understand how to make it work practically. And while there were strict regulatory mandates to be conformed to, the instructions were a bit obscure. This is where our HIPAAcompliant vaccine administration platform, TrackMy Vaccines, came to their rescue. Hospitals and clinics were already using the platform as an end-to-end vaccine management solution. From inventory management, scheduling, and point of administration of vaccine capture, through to reporting patient adverse events and dosing reminders, the platform took care of all the needs. Alongside, since TrackMy Vaccines had direct connections with the state registries for immunization validation and verification, it solved the challenges of verifying vaccination status on the go.

Could you cite a customer success story?
We have worked with one of the counties in Pennsylvania. They had a relatively large population of over 500,000 people in that county. And their demographic constituted a significant number of senior citizens. So the county wanted to identify the elderly population based on their health risk profiles at the beginning of the vaccination drive and focus on treating them more effectively. But they lacked the necessary infrastructure to manage such a large population. That is when we came in and worked with the county for building a tracking solution and pace up the search process for the at-risk elderly population. Ultimately, with the help of a local medical facility, we tracked almost 250,000 of their citizens. Eventually, our client was pleased with the level of service we provided. It was our first prominent use case.
What, according to you, steers you ahead in the market?
As a software company, our mission is to increase safety and save lives through technology. So, we focus on the consumer-facing side of healthcare. We do everything with the idea of value and benefit to the end-consumers, i.e. patients. Besides, data security is always on top of our minds, and we thus take every measure to ensure that the data is secure. And finally, we invest in the success of our customers and people and believe in our products and the value they bring to society as a whole. So, we spend a lot of time making sure we are doing the right thing and ensuring that our systems are flexible, scalable, and secure.
What does the future look like for TrackMy Solutions?
We are starting to take a lot of our lessons this year and use that to scale globally. We understand the burning requirement of efficient vaccine administration software and tracking software around the globe. So, we are currently planning to support public and private entities outside the U.S. in managing their patient population better. We are also looking at the standardization of health information by leveraging digital health passes or smart health cards. So essentially, we will continue charting new territories while bolstering our foothold in the existing ones.
