In conversation with CIO Applications, Andrew Fehlman, CEO of Solarity, shares insights into how Solarity has facilitated the fragmented clinical data processing.
What are the value propositions that make Solarity unique?
The modern healthcare industry generates nearly thirty percent of the world’s data. The vast data set, however, often remain underutilized given the unstructured or fragmented nature. Every healthcare organization has its information system. On average, these systems receive clinical information from over 1000 different sources every 48 hours. This massive amount of information needs to be consumed and organized within the EHRs—a difficult feat to achieve given that every EHR is set up in a customized way.
As a result, patient data becomes fragmented within the EHRs. Solarity is solving this problem by automating the receipt of any clinical information, regardless of the source or format. This enables healthcare organizations to utilize and exchange patient data for better patient outcomes effectively.
Our intelligent automation engine makes the process of entering clinical information into EHRs much simpler by fully automating the identification and analysis of the clinical information at the right time. Whether it started in a paper, fax, or electronic form, information is routed to a queue. Then, medical professionals can review it before incorporating it into the record. This crucial step eliminates the risk of data duplication or entering wrong information into the EHR.
Could you describe the salient features of Solarity solutions or their capabilities?
Solarity has advanced patient matching capabilities. Its intelligent automation and contextual identification algorithm enable the identification of clinical data, whether it’s lab results, prescriptions, physicians, referrals, vaccines, consults, or prior authorizations. The data is automatically matched with the right patient in the EHR database. Solarity also validates and normalizes the data for your EHR. This enables healthcare organizations to quickly and easily find specific patient information.
If you think about the healthcare web, Solarity sits at the center of that by bringing all the information into the EHR system.
Could you tell us about a case study where Solarity helped its clients achieve success?
A U.S. News Best Hospitals Honor Roll recipient struggled to process clinical data quickly due to manual processes. Despite expanding the workforce, they were unable to bring all the data into the EHR. With Solarity in place, their turnaround time is now less than 12 hours, their accuracy exceeds 99 percent, and they have fewer than ten FTEs involved in the process. Before Solarity, their TAT was measured in days, with over 80 FTEs involved in the process.
What sets Solarity apart from the competition?
Solarity captures, normalizes and interprets clinical data, regardless of the source or format, to put the correct information in the right hands at the right time. The result? Faster, more informed clinical decisions for physicians and better outcomes for patients.
