Slice skyrocketed from the starting gate. The company is currently expanding from its NYC roots into the Midwest and South with two new offices opening in the cities of Nashville and Indianapolis. Slice manages a diverse and growing portfolio of temporary, permanent, and public Wi-Fi networks. It covers dense deployments such as stadiums, concerts, event venues, and large public spaces such as downtown business districts, parks, boardwalks, and even on ferries. Slice also supports less dense deployments such as multi-dwelling complexes, college campuses, student housing, assisted living, medical facilities, as well as traditional commercial spaces including offices and warehouses. In addition, Slice currently manages a network of event venues ensuring promoters with state-of-the-art Wi-Fi networking for worry-free venue Wi-Fi connections.
Wi-Fi is no longer just for mobile phones, tablets, or computers; it now provides connectivity to door locks, refrigerators, and even hairbrushes! Once daily items around the house have now become smart and connected. The conversion to wireless in smart homes is just the beginning. High speed, low latency Wi-Fi is required for augmented reality. Imagine a resident surgeon practicing a technique without a live patient or cadaver. Wi-Fi now transforms phones into televisions, connects cars to homes and offices, delivers digital viewing of implanted heart monitors, and connects an exponentially growing number of IoT devices. This evolution applies to transportation, retail, distance education, manufacturing, and healthcare and more.
This all begs the question: how do the wirelessly connected devices interact securely, seamlessly, and at low cost?
“User focused means supporting competing constituencies for bandwidth while ensuring security, ease of use and integration.
Slice specializes strictly on providing Wi-Fi unlike many providers who supply it as a small part of their solution. Customers often confuse Wi-Fi with Internet access. Many people turn to ISPs, Cable companies, computer service companies, A/V or Security companies, or even low-voltage contractors for their Wi- Fi solutions. However good at what they do, their “specialty” is primary and the Wi-Fi solution is secondary, lacking the focused engineering to ensure reliable, data driven Wi-Fi. Slice’s expertise extends full-circle to their site survey, engineering, equipment procurement, installation and their clients’ preferred “remote” management.
User focused means supporting competing constituencies for bandwidth while ensuring security, ease of use and integration. Ease of use and security are already in opposition, but they define what users are looking for, so it defines what we deliver
End-users not only clients are demanding Slice Wi-Fi due to its high level of capability. Slice is becoming a brand name in Wi-Fi deployment. “It's like having a stamp of approval that Slice is best,” says Jo-Anne Dressendofer, President of Slice Wireless Solutions. But what is most exciting for us, is that Slice is a market disrupter by turning building owners into Internet Service Providers (ISPs) so they can make the cable or phone company revenues or bringing the benefit of commercial grade capabilities to the homeowner. And best of all, giving users the power to be in direct control of the products and services they use.
The "SliceBox", a key differentiator, is a unified smart gateway engineered to generate and extract revenue through captive portals, interstitial redirection (tracking and targeting ads), and uplink control (pay tier services); among other built in functions all controlled by a single central policy engine. Allowing the user to slice up the bandwidth, control access to both the wired and wireless network with per-user traffic shaping and dynamic VLAN assignment providing maximum security and auditing. Not only can you slice bandwidth into multiple networks, it further improves limiting data breaches and isolates threats.
With the SliceBox, Slice is able to quickly develop strategically policy templates more accurately control usage. These templates allow remote and field engineers to have a starting point for each installation type allowing for mostly minor modifications to get the network configured and running perfectly. This controller is hardware vendor agnostic and currently works with Ruckus, Aerohive and Samsung among others. It can be deployed in a cluster configuration for redundancy and integrated for example, with property management systems to support large installations.
From humble beginnings just wanting to be one-step ahead to becoming a visionary leader has helped establish Slice as one of smartest Wi-Fi Companies in the market. They are indeed the company that can slice your Wi-Fi any way you want it.
