However, many companies fail in their quest for better search because search is not their core expertise and they don’t know what to fix or where to start. Compounding the problem is a lack of or unavailability of search metrics and analytics, cookie cutter search experiences that don’t produce optimal results and long, complex and time-consuming development cycles for implementing and updating the search experience. As a result, businesses are forced to rely on their internal IT department or digital agency partner which can be an expensive endeavor.
To this end, SearchStax is on a mission to empower companies across the globe to deliver better search applications and experiences by offering a robust suite of SaaS solutions ranging from Managed Solr infrastructure to Advanced and Personalized Site Search.
In a conversation with CIO Applications, Sameer Maggon, the Founder and CEO of SearchStax, provides insights into the mission and vision of the company, their offerings and their product roadmap.
Could you give a brief overview of SearchStax?
SearchStax was founded in 2015 and has been focused since day one on building cloud-based SaaS software solutions to help companies deliver better search—faster and with higher confidence.
We offer two complementary search software solutions. Managed Solr is our fully-managed and SLA-backed Solr service that allows developers to spend more time focused on building a better search experience and less time automating, managing, maintaining, and scaling their Solr search infrastructure in public or private clouds. SearchStudio is our site search analytics and experience management solution that enables business teams to analyze, improve and optimize their customers’ search experience.
What are some of the challenges that your customers face, especially with the Adobe stack?
Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) is a comprehensive content management solution used by thousands of companies to develop digital experiences for their customers. However, AEM has some shortcomings when it comes to delivering an industry-standard search experience. As a result, many businesses turn to alternative search solutions, such as the flexible, powerful and opensource Apache Solr engine to enhance their Adobe-based websites with better search capabilities.
We have come a long way to emerge as the trusted name for providing proven solutions dedicated to diverse design environments
Could you elaborate on the features and functionalities of SearchStudio?
SearchStudio, our personalized and advanced site search solution provides industry-leading search analytics capability to companies and allows them to understand their customers’ specific needs, likes and dislikes, gaps in the website content, and more. Companies can then leverage these insights to enhance user engagement by quickly making changes to search on the website. Simply put, our solution allows businesses to deliver a personalized search experience and deliver the right results to the right users at the right time and place.
We can prioritize search results by boosting fields, allowing custom rules, creating promotions, and modifying the sort order—resulting in a best-in-class site search experience. We also have functionality to provide users with stopwords, spell checking, auto-suggest and related search features which helps reduce the amount of time users invest in finding their desired products or content. Our latest feature enables users to provide feedback on their search experience enabling a continuous improvement loop for the company.
In a nutshell, we serve as a go-to partner for businesses, helping them accelerate their time-to-market, enhance customer engagement, empower business teams to own the search experience, and achieve rapid and measurable value at a fraction of the cost of do-it-yourself or competing solutions.
Could you give a case study that substantiates SearchStax’s value proposition?
Recently, we collaborated with a B2B software company where search was an important part of their website experience so finding relevant content as quickly as possible was essential for delivering a great customer experience. The company wanted a federated search solution with flexible facets to allow their users to seamlessly search across their primary and support websites at the same time. They also wanted functionality to provide type-ahead search suggestions, to enable users to toggle between both ‘most relevant’ and ‘most recent’ search results and to gather feedback to improve the search experience.
We helped the company achieve their goals by taking over the management and support of their Solr infrastructure while deploying our analytics and search management solution into their ecosystem. Post collaboration, our solution will provide them with valuable information on what users are searching for, what searches don’t return any results and where clicks occur within the search results. Armed with this information, the business team will be able to quickly fine tune the search experience, boost fields to change the search rankings and promote relevant content.
How does the future hold for SearchStax?
Although the pandemic has adversely affected most industry verticals, we have witnessed tremendous growth as our solutions facilitate the digital transformation that companies need to invest in to remain competitive today. Anticipating the same trend in the post-pandemic era, we are framing a comprehensive roadmap with several enhancements in our solution suite. We are working to further simplify our solution’s integration with the Adobe stack by creating an easy-to-use plug-in component. We are also planning to leverage the power of AI to enhance our analytics capability to automatically identify users and deliver them a more personalized search experience.
