Organizations in the health care arena have turned to larger more automated DC’s to fulfill supply orders to the hospitals and clinics. Consolidation of smaller stock rooms into a semi automated distribution center helps keep the cost of supplies down, freeing up valuable revenue generating space in the hospital, and allows buyers to purchase larger quantities of inventory by taking advantage of greater purchasing power.
ScottTech Integrated Solutions has over three decades of experience in automated warehouse and distribution design. ScottTech utilizes automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) along with its Warehouse Management System (WMS) PickPro to help its clients solve these ever increasing challenges in the DC. It gives clients the ability to manage their inventory and process the orders quickly, accurately, and efficiently, resulting in more orders processed each day.
ScottTech supports these types of picking systems in a wide array of industries such as pharmaceuticals, Department of Defense, manufacturing, and ecommerce, among others.
“ScottTech is a true systems integration company,” says Michael Yezzi, VP of Business Development and Managing Partner at ScottTech.
Our process includes gathering detailed information about our customers' order profile from order size, number of lines, and items per line, and then working with our customers to develop a goal for future requirements
ScottTech has developed a modular in design software suite, PickPro WMS/ WCS. The base is a complete inventory control system with features and benefits typical in a WMS. It has lot and serial number tracking, inventory by location, forward picking zone, warehouse codes, size and velocity tracking, along with many other features. The suite includes a module for receiving, shipping, RF data collection, pick to light, ASRS, conveyor tote management, order manager, workflow management, and supports RFID inventory tracking. Some of the ASRS equipments supported include horizontal and vertical carousels, vertical lift modules, mini loads, and unit load handling systems.
ScottTech is currently working with a customer that supplies supplements for domestic animals. "Our system is going to semi automate the filling of orders using our PickPro WMS, with pick to light and conveyor tote management. Eliminating the wasted handling of carts from zone to zone by installing the conveyor handling system along with the pick to light will increase the order throughput by 50 percent,” says Yezzi.
At a shrimp processing facility in Guyana, South America, ScottTech designed a system to automate the weighing, bagging, and labeling of product in the production area. Installation of check weighing and metal detection equipment increased the productivity, accuracy and quality of the product being shipped to the USA for final processing.
ScottTech is developing devices using scanners and software to help its customers comply with the GS1-128 food grade standard validation. Acknowledging the increasing advances in supply chain technology, ScottTech intends to evolve along with emerging trends such as the rise in automation, through the use of metal detectors and vision systems to improve solutions and provide quality, cost, services, and delivery for its customers.
