RAN Security has been recognized by CIO Applications Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top 10 Cyber Security Solutions Companies in Latin America - 2024,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry, and is also named among “,” reflecting its broader leadership. This profile has been developed by the CIO Applications research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Roberto Tursi, CEO.
Roberto Tursi, CEOWith over three decades of industry experience, RAN Security stands as a stalwart in the realm of data protection and malware prevention. It was founded with the aim of bringing together teams of skilled professionals and building a vast knowledge base. Years into the trade, the company is now poised to revolutionize the cybersecurity landscape with its next-generation AI-based services.
In an era fraught with cybersecurity challenges, enterprises grapple with mainly three formidable hurdles: the omnipresent threat of skilled attackers, the imperative for multi-layered defense mechanisms, and the dearth of adept cybersecurity personnel. RAN addresses these pain points, offering strategic guidance and specialized services to its clients.
The company specializes in endpoint security, cloud security, and navigation security to deliver tailored solutions that safeguard organizations' critical assets. It also provides comprehensive data protection, which includes data management, data discovery, data classification, data protection, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) for a robust defense against cyber threats. To fortify defenses against evolving threats, its service roster also includes vulnerability management and privileged access management.
A hallmark of RAN's offerings is its cybersecurity awareness program, User’s Hardening, designed to empower organizations with the knowledge and tools needed to bolster a fully adapted cybersecurity campaign which includes videos, security tips, webinars and attack simulations, among many other activities. The objective is to help organizations determine their level of protection and real and effective resilience in facing the possibility of an attack.
As organizations expand, their security requirements grow more complex, and it is imperative to validate that all anti malware defensive lines are detecting and preventing malicious and hacking activities correctly. This is especially relevant for solutions like endpoint detection and response (EDR) and extended detection and response (EDR), where evaluating detection efficacy requires specialized skills.
RAN’s purple team works to define a protection score that is validated against active threats, geographically targeted malicious campaigns, or industry types. This allows organizations to be assured of the level of protection their EDR provides if the primary anti-malware defenses are breached and also gives insights about measures they need to take.
An apt example is an instance revolving around a health enterprise that suffered a malware attack. Despite having a robust endpoint protection tool in place, the client fell victim to the attack, highlighting the complexity of security requirements. Following the incident, they reached out to RAN to verify that they had a good protection tool to secure the endpoints. To analyze every potential threat opportunity, the company carried out a simulation attack exercise to find out multiple configuration security breaches in their security platform of detection and response (EDR), which was a key factor in the attack they had suffered.
To overcome complex security threats businesses today need more than just defensive mechanisms. They need to constantly engage in testing, learning and adapting new technologies in order to safeguard their operations
The company, with its established presence throughout the southern hemisphere, has ambitious expansion plans. These plans involve not only geographical expansion but also broadening the services offered to include AI-based solutions.
Its readiness for AI-based services was exemplified when it helped a finance company. To ensure they are in compliance with the personal data protection laws, the client conducted a thorough investigation to identify the personal data held in structured databases and various unstructured data formats such as Excel spreadsheets, text documents, and images, among others. RAN’s AI tools were instrumental in this process. To help in this process, RAN used AI e-tools that successfully analyzed the different storage platforms, including servers and clouds.
The company's adaptive prowess and expertise are a result of fostering a work environment that constantly challenges team members to improve. The company has a competitive wage strategy to attract and retain top talent. It also provides valuable training and certification programs that are highly regarded in the security labor market.
Today, RAN remains steadfast in its mission to empower businesses with cutting-edge solutions and unwavering support. With a proven track record of success and a commitment to innovation, it redefines the standards of cybersecurity excellence, safeguarding businesses against the ever-evolving threat landscape.
