Enhancing Business Productivity with better Collaboration

Founded in 1999, Quick Base is the industry-leading provider of a low-code platform, which enables non-technical users to create applications and share information for better collaboration. The platform comprises easy to use tools to build very powerful, useful line-of-business applications. In a recent interview with Jay Jamison, SVP of Strategy and Product Management of Quick Base, we discuss how collaboration solutions can today place power in the hands of end-users.

In your conversations with industry personnel, what are some of the pain-points pertaining to contemporary collaboration solutions? How does Quick Base address the same?

The issues that we see with collaboration around the world are the extreme demands placed on information workers by clients to respond to their business requirements in a swifter fashion. With demands of customers increasing, there is a requirement to be very responsive to marketing, sales and finance and so on.

At Quick Base we help those information workers to get exactly the information and data they need quicker, providing them the ability to make the best decisions and serving their customers in a swift fashion. In our offices, we use our platform for all our applications, from HR, CRM, finance, to customer tracking applications. Our business and market moves very fast, and it is very compelling that our end-users, the people closest to the work—marketing or finance professionals, do not have to wait for the IT team to update an application for them to get the information they need.

Please shed some light on the features and functionalities of your solution.How does Quick Base enable its users to streamline their workflows?

Quick Base is a highly flexible and very powerful automation and database SaaS platform. One of the benefits of being SaaS is our ‘Instant On’ functionality, which gives users easy access to our platform.

You don't have to set up a new database environment; Quick Base is just available through a web browser. We have a very simple to use interface that enables anything from simply importing spreadsheets to building applications.Some of the capabilities that customers appreciate are the simple, streamlined reporting, charts and graphs that enable them to build easy to see and very powerful reports or portals or dashboards.We have very powerful integration capabilities—being able to connect Quick Base to third-party applications and systems of record with ease. Whether it is Salesforce or ServiceNow or Workday, our customers want to be able to take Quick Base with its flexibility and power and connect it to existing systems of record and finally, the ability to customize Quick Base according to the clients’ requirements.

What efforts have you taken to maintain the privacy and security of your clients’ data?

We work with some of the largest enterprise companies in the world, including over 50 of the Fortune 100 companies. We provide those customers with the security, compliance, and capabilities that they need. Our 100 percent cloud-based infrastructure is highly redundant and available so that we can maintain very high levels of reliability. We have a wide range of infrastructure and platform security capabilities--military-grade physical security, encryption that we put in motion and at rest, extensive DDoS protection, web application firewalls and so on. We do a wide range of 24/7 automated monitoring because of which we earn the trust of our customers every day. We understand that the infrastructure and platform security that we deliver is of critical importance for our customers.

Can you provide a case study that highlights the usability of your solution?

Helm Inc. provides branded merchandise, multichannel fulfillment, and marketing services to companies in the automotive and retail industries. Helm wanted their business users to be more productive and wanted to free up their IT department so that it could work in the area that it could add the most value. They employed Quick Base to help automate and streamline processes. We were able to standardize several key operations, eliminate over 3,000 spreadsheets and hundreds of thousands of emails from their processes. The result was a saving of over $150,000a year in terms of operational cost and a reduction in IT backlogs, enabling their IT department to focus on core value-driving projects.

How does the future look like for the company in the next 12-18 months considering geographical enhancements and different industry segments?

We are expanding our presence in the US.We have an extensive and global partner network that spans beyond the US that is also growing quite rapidly. In terms of segments, we are working with a range of verticals across different industries. Quick Base is working extensively around automation to really help our customers achieve the goal of streamlining workflows and business processes that are ever more complicated in a simple and easy to use way.
