What Technologies are Transforming the Construction Industry?

By CIO Applications| Thursday, December 12, 2019
Tweet

The construction industry is constantly growing at a rate never known before. Technologies have had a significant effect on techniques and systems of building projects of all types

FREMONT, CA: The construction industry has always faced problems including delay in plan implementation, an insufficient supply of materials trouble in the follow-up of employees, and the list continues. The consumers' demands for fast building, innovative designs, and the finest quality have touched the sky with the increasing residential, industrial, and commercial development.

This is where incredible technological advances with high value and efficiency come to light. The construction companies have already begun using these innovations, which have raised the satisfaction level of the clients and their staff, as well as the consumer's experience.

Following are some of the technology that has transformed the construction industry entirely.

1. Cloud Services

Cloud services allow construction companies to concentrate on programs that are already in development instead of IT products and services administration. Cloud computing allows people to store, access, and process information while sitting at home. For the construction business to hold meetings, on-site, or off-site, only an internet connection is needed. For those in construction companies, the ability to use cloud technology for management has become essential.

2. Drones

Several construction companies are already using drones for site surveys during the construction process. The drones keep track of everything, starting with analyzing the site before purchasing it to maintaining it. It is the same as a bird's eye view that gives clear and high-resolution images when flying over land; thus, providing a precise description of the area for construction companies.

3. 3D Printing

In the construction industry, 3D Printing can be used throughout two separate fields. The first class includes the ability to create projects' scale models or to create other aspects of projects easily; the second category concerns the production of materials used by a 3D printer during construction. 3D printers have the ability to mold recycled parts instead of constructing special equipment. 3D printers can also be utilized to create individual parts, based on the appropriate material.

4. Safety Wearables

Security at the worksite is the priority for each construction company before any project starts. Working on a construction site is equitable to risking the life of employees without the appropriate processes, training, and kit. The accidents and injury risks can now be managed with wearables. They also lead to the strengthening of employee confidence. For example, indoor GPS systems from Redpoint help to monitor workers on-site and alert them as they visit different safety zones.

5. AR and VR

In the coming years, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) will modernize the entire construction industry. Imagine creating a digital environment overlays like Google Glass. For example, if looking at the wall with Daqri smart glasses that show the height, size, structure, and even projected lifespan.

VR allows stakeholders to experience precisely how the site looks when completed through devices such as Oculus Rift.

Construction and design using these innovations will come even closer in the future. The construction is being made more sophisticated, and technology such as 3D Printing can help engineers develop new and innovative designs. There will be no limit to the applications of these technologies.
