Vivalink Biometrics Data Platform Helps Monitor Cancer Patients In Clinical Trials And Patient Care

Fremont, CA: Recently, the healthcare industry has witnessed an increased use of new technology to fight illness develop new vaccines and medicines.
Vivalink, a leading provider of digital healthcare solutions, is offering its Biometric Data Platform to help detect neutropenic fever events. Neutropenic fever is a common and potentially serious side effect of cytotoxic chemotherapy, and early detection and treatment are critical for effective management. Traditional spot-check methods are limited in their ability to detect some episodes of neutropenic fever because it can occur without symptoms or during non-waking hours.
As part of a nonrandomized study, 80 cancer patients involved in outpatient intermediate-risk chemotherapy regimens will make use of Vivalink's continuous temperature monitor, a medical-grade wearable thermometer accurate to within 0.1°C, to record their axillary temperature every 10 minutes for the first 84 days of their treatment. If a fever is detected during these incremental checks, patients and their treating oncologists will be notified in real-time, and blood will be drawn to confirm neutropenia. UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center researchers will lead the study.
Alacrity Care is another company developing monitoring solutions for oncology treatments. It creates clinical-grade digital monitoring solutions that connect providers, patients, and caregivers throughout the cancer treatment journey. Alacrity Care, by utilizing Vivalink's platform for remote continuous temperature and ECG monitoring, not only provides better insights into what is happening throughout the treatment journey but also helps to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations because of more proactive care.
"Vivalink's platform ability to produce accurate, medical-grade data has attracted different applications and uses from pharmaceutical to medical technology companies, demonstrating the immense value and need for this data in the healthcare industry," stated Jiang Li, CEO of Vivalink.
The Biometrics Data Platform from Vivalink includes a portfolio of FDA, CE, and NPMA cleared reusable wearable sensors for monitoring a variety of human vitals such as respiratory rate, heart rate, temperature, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and ECG. In addition, the platform includes an FDA and CE cleared arrhythmia detection algorithm, as well as HIPAA and GDPR compliant cloud data services.
Vivalink is at the forefront of remote patient monitoring (RPM) and decentralized clinical trials, both of which have grown in popularity since COVID-19, and its platform has been successfully deployed in a wide range of clinical applications around the world.
