Upcoming Automotive Technology That Could Change Future of The Industry

automotiveThe automotive industry has undergone a sea change in the past century. The industry is evolving in response to technological development and consumer behavior. The industry is now capable of delivering the most advanced, safest and most comfortable automobiles out there. Vehicles are becoming large smart devices with advanced emergency breaking capabilities, autonomous driving with mapping technology, better fuel efficiency, and cars as a service as a form of transportation. Here are some groundbreaking technologies that are anticipated to change the automotive industry.

Fuel efficient rides: Automotive manufacturers are implementing electric vehicle technology to their fold, which is in the forefront in the fuel efficiency movement. Millions of electric vehicles are being sold worldwide and the figure is expected to rise in the coming years.  Companies like Tesla is planning to release a slew of an electric and hybrid vehicle that can cover hundreds of miles with a single charge.

Predictive vehicle technology: Artificial Intelligence and machine learning are playing a key role in the future of automotive. The predictive capabilities of these technologies are becoming prevalent in vehicles, personalizing the driving experience. Manufacturers are applying the algorithm to use data to automate the process of setting up a vehicle, for instance, a car's infotainment system or its application preferences. Vehicles like IoT devices can now connect to smartphones and take voice commands, changing the user interface.

Self-driving technology: Autonomous driving technology with self-driving capabilities are being widely adopted in vehicles. Driver assisting technology with semi-autonomous capabilities are already popular. This technology includes automatic breaking sensors, motorway lane sensors, mapping technology that surveys blind spots, cameras at the back and front of the car and self-parking capabilities.

Car as a Service (CaaS): This refers to an upcoming car rental service that allows drivers to engage in a ride-sharing service. Smart device owners can navigate a vehicle with driverless technology through an application. One perk of this technological advancement is that it does not require a driver's license to access one of those vehicles. CaaS as a mobility service can increase the safety of consumers.

3D Printing: 3D printing in the automation industry can develop various 3D car prototypes which can be used for safety tests as it has a cost-effective nature.

These opportunities are beneficial for those who are willing to evolve with these fast-paced technological advancements of the industry.
