The recent pandemic revealed the weakness of various business continuity plans. Here's what can be done.
Fremont, CA: In the recent days, the pandemic panic was quite visible in the business communities. Many companies learned too late that their plans were inadequate for such situations. Deficiency in interoperability, crisis management, pandemic readiness, and disaster recovery was seen in most places. The situation demands to reset expectations on business continuity plans and how the things should be managed from here on out.
Here is five ways that can be used to implement business continuity and maintain the business during this pandemic season and then ahead.
Business Foundation
Setting up a business continuity plan objectives is important for facing any sort of situations. It can cover all aspects of business such as involved personals, resource allocations, and project charts. Priorities should be set for staff, vendors, customers, and others. Focus can be on the most critical applications and systems that should be revived in case of emergencies. Actions plans can be set based on assumptions and limitations that each business face. By foreseeing the possible issues ahead the company executives can identify the limitations in the extent, duration, and impact of the plans.
Such detailed business continuity plans can identify and create responses for key resources like workplace, equipment, workforce, third-party services, IT services, data, etc. Response strategies can also be made based on them.

Communications
The importance of communication before, during, and after an incident can’t be overstated. Strategies should include detailed methodologies by which the resources can be communicated with each other. In case of serious and unpredictable emergencies key personals should be places in strategic important locations to ensure smooth communication.
Information regarding communications plans should be clearly passed to the staff beforehand. Everyone should be aware of what to do when such a situation arrives. The more successfully you’ve communicated your plan and trained relevant staff in its execution, the more effective it will be. After activating the business continuity plans, open communication channels should be maintained amongst the people involved. Real-time communication and updates need to be maintained during this period.
