Transforming clinical workflow and patient care
It has become a reality now that patients and providers want access to their data and devices at anytime, anywhere. This has become possible owing to the cloud, mobile, and digital transformation technologies. It has become crucial now to have a well-designed strategy in place to have improved patient care, streamlined clinical workﬂows, and a substantial return on investment.
The first step to meet the goals of providing efficient healthcare experience is to have a comprehensive strategy. Surveying and receiving feedback from clinicians about their needs and catering to the pain points can improve patient care considerably. These clinical goals should be kept in mind while choosing a mobile platform, a device, or some applications to meet the team’s goals. Management, security, and infrastructure access should also be monitored and taken care of.
For example, it should be ensured that the Wi-Fi network in place can support all additional bandwidth requirements. The clinical communication software should integrate with a hospital’s existing PBX and must support VoIP on smartphones. It should be checked if the mobile threat-detection solutions are working efficiently and the anomalies on devices, networks, and apps that could jeopardize security are appropriately checked or not.
Along with these, it is also important to remember that mobile technology is changing rapidly. This means that an effective strategy cannot remain static. To drive mobile effectiveness and patient care, the best mobile strategies must be regularly reviewed against established KPIs.
The cloud is enabling new opportunities for patient care, and two main perspectives are affected by cloud adoption. Firstly, leveraging the cloud helps the IT department offload tasks such as emailing and keeping backups, so that precious human and hardware resources are freed up to concentrate on more meaningful tasks to develop, support, and improve patient care. Secondly, cloud also helps in increasing the speed to market for applications or research. The cloud has overall enabled collaboration and information-sharing in real time because it makes data available at any time and anywhere.
