SwaggerHub Now Offers Event-Driven AsyncAPI Specification for Teams Implementing Multiple API Standards

API World Advisory Board bestows the 2022 API Award for Best in Microservices upon SwaggerHub AsyncAPI Support.
FREMONT, CA: “Until today, there was no single solution where teams could collaborate, design, and document both synchronous and asynchronous APIs. Adding AsyncAPI event-driven architecture capabilities to SwaggerHub increases the ability for enterprises to have visibility into API estates across multiple specifications. For the first time, message-driven and event-driven dev teams can come together to collaborate and document APIs, create and lookup AsyncAPI definitions, control access between users and APIs, and centralize re-useable components,” says Sean Butler, VP of Product Management at SmartBear. SmartBear, one of the leading providers of software development and visibility tools, has come up with AsyncAPI Specification support in SwaggerHub, the company's integrated API development platform and the platform of choice for API designers, developers, and architects who are developing, testing, and deploying high-quality APIs. In addition to the OpenAPI Specification for REST APIs, event-driven architecture (EDA) development teams can now collaborate in SwaggerHub to design, document, and standardize their APIs. AsyncAPI is the most widely used specification for documenting and describing event-driven API architectures, such as Apache Kafka.
Growing businesses that rely on automation and external integration via APIs also face the difficulty of keeping up with the resulting complexity. EDAs are the backbone of an organization's internal services, enabling the business to swiftly deploy new services, engage in real-time communications, and give additional value to end users.
API standards continue to evolve in response to new obstacles. SmartBear's 2016 State of Software Quality | API survey revealed that the AsyncAPI standard's popularity has doubled from the previous survey. Moreover, 81 percent of respondents use multiple API specifications, and 57 percent use three or more.
With SwaggerHub's support for the AsyncAPI Specification, SmartBear continues to enhance the API and microservices development experience for teams of any complexity. Increasing developer visibility by enhancing discoverability with streamlined governance across the different specifications that comprise contemporary microservice architectures allows teams to remain in a flow state for longer.
The 2022 API Award for Best in Microservices APIs was awarded to SwaggerHub AsyncAPI Support. The prize will be presented at the 2022 API Awards ceremony at API World in San Jose, California, on October 25, 2022. SmartBear introduced AsyncAPI Specification support for Swagger Editor, the most popular open-source API editing tool on the market.
Thousands of teams use SwaggerHub to foster standards and secure collaboration throughout the API development lifecycle, including over 100,000 API practitioners in over 40,000 businesses and over 200,000 API projects.
