Stream Secures $15M in Series A Round of Financing

FREMONT, CA: Stream, a Boulder, CO-based creator of enterprise-grade activity feed and chat APIs, secured a $15m Series A financing.
The round was led by GGV Capital with active participation from new investor 01 Advisors, Knight, seed round lead investor Arthur Ventures, and other backers, including Olivier Pomel, CEO of Datadog, and Tom Preston-Werner, co-founder of GitHub. In addition to the funding, Tiffany Luck from GGV Capital is expected to join the Stream board of directors.

The company plans to utilize the capital to invest in scaling its global team across engineering, sales, and marketing.
Established by Thierry Schellenbach and Tommaso Barbugli in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Stream provides APIs which empower product teams to build chat and activity feeds for their applications at scale, serving companies in segments such as education, healthcare, finance, dating, fitness, and social to connect their community. Notable companies utilizing the solution include Powerschool, Healthline, Stocktwits, Freeletics, Imgur, Match, TaskRabbit, and Dubsmash.
The company took participation in the Techstars NYC program. After the program, Stream shifted its headquarters to Boulder, Colorado. Today it employs 55 people in Amsterdam and Boulder, as well as remote.
“Stream’s APIs for chat and activity feeds enables product teams to build a polished user experience,” Schellenbach said in a statement. “Our customers launch faster and can iterate more often than teams that build in-house.”
