Sirona Medical will incorporate Nines' AI-powered algorithms into its unique RadOS operating system, as well as numerous key individuals.
Fremont, CA: As the pandemic enters its third year, healthcare employers and employees continue to face crushing workloads and severe manpower shortages. Suppose we don't rapidly rethink where and how care is delivered. In that case, the continuous development of chronic diseases, rising healthcare costs, widening inequality and climate change will further add to the strain. Meanwhile, patient and consumer healthcare expectations are shifting. As a result, future healthcare systems must provide more accessible, scalable, and equitable care while also contributing to preserving the planet's health.
Sirona Medical, a software company based on a deep understanding of radiology practice and business, announced today the acquisition of Nines' AI capabilities, such as its clinical data pipeline, machine learning engines, AI-powered radiology workflow management, and analytics tools, and two FDA-cleared medical equipment. In addition, important Nines personnel, namely Maureen Bradford as a chief revenue officer, will join Sirona Medical.
The FDA-cleared medical devices, NinesMeasureTM, a lung nodule algorithm that uses AI to speed up the diagnosis of certain respiratory diseases, and NinesAITM Emergent Triage, a series of AI-powered algorithms which triages time-critical, life-threatening indications of intracranial hemorrhage & mass effect, will get integrated into Sirona's radiology operating system (RadOS). This unified platform integrates siloed radio.
The acquisition follows Sirona's strategic agreement with RevealDx to incorporate their CE-marked RevealAI-Lung algorithms into Sirona's RadOS platform and represents another important milestone in Sirona's commercial rollout of delivering innovative value to its radiology customers.
In order for AI adoption to take place at scale, you need to break down the artificial silos of a medical image viewer, studies worklist, and speech recognition reporter. It's only through a unified platform that AI can take full advantage of the underlying data and deliver context-specific results in the most relevant way to radiologists," said Cameron Andrews, founder, and CEO of Sirona Medical. "I've been a longtime fan of what Nines has built, and we're excited to add their brilliant minds to the team as we continue to expand on our vision to help radiologists through better software.
