A transformer malfunction can be an economic disaster and installing or replacing it can take longer than a year. Not monitoring the transformers, utilities are facing risks of losing revenue, as well as experiencing catastrophic failures in the future.Linda Rae, President
FREMONT, CA: “We have one of the broadest portfolios of sensors, monitors, and software that allow us to provide a complete solution from basic sensors to software and analytics. Our team of subject-matter experts provides consultative services to our customers’ condition monitoring needs, guiding and supporting their technical decision-making process,” said Linda Rae, President of Qualitrol.
Qualitrol is delighted to launch QPDM, the continuous online monitoring for transformers. The recently launched QPDM represents the next-gen of the UHF Partial Discharge (PD), which is a field-proven and an industry-leading monitoring system. QPDM carries more than 25 years of experience to screen PD activity on a real-time basis, foresee faults, and provide utilities. It gives them confidence to make informed as well as strategic decisions keeping in mind, the appropriate maintenance of their transformers prior to any unexpected outages.
The QPDM has an exceptional built-in sensitivity of -80 dBm along with a full range of selections covering 300 to 2100 MHz. It helps in reducing the chances of missing out any Partial Discharge activity. The platform also includes a high dynamic range of 70 dB that allows better analysis of PD activity with more significant amplitude variations. The real-time monitoring of PD amplitude and discharge rate lends a hand in correlating PD activity with transformer load, oil load tap changer (OLTC) operations, and other equipped indicators. The latest QPDM monitors will be available in full production fall of 2019.
Linda further added, “Our solutions not only help in providing insights into the health of transformers and other assets but also deliver early indications of potential failure.”
The QPDM Transformer Partial Discharge Monitor of Qualitrol has a robust design and exceptional interference immunity for measurements under complex environmental circumstances. It has advanced HMI provisions such as intelligent data handling, display, and interpretation. It gives flexible installation and configuration options to meet the customer expectations along with the smart and real-time alerting device.
Qualitrol was featured as one of the Top 10 Remote Monitoring Solution Providers of 2018 by CIO Applications.
