Fremont, CA: Workplace wellness has been shown to improve employee engagement, productivity, stress, burnout prevention, absenteeism, and overall health (mental and physical) of employees. As the year comes to a close, it is time to consider how workplace wellness will evolve in 2021, as companies strive to improve the employee experience.
Growth of Holistic Wellness
Companies realize that workplace wellness must go beyond physical and mental health. Organizations must ensure that they provide a robust wellness program that addresses all seven dimensions of wellness: emotional, social, spiritual, environmental, occupational, intellectual, and physical.
Employee wellness programs and benefits will become much more holistic as everyone enters a new decade. Programs that assist individuals in managing and coping with stress and depression and programs that assist employees with financial wellness and reskilling efforts will become more common.
Providing holistic programs and benefits demonstrates to employees that a company is concerned with their work performance and their overall life satisfaction. This all-encompassing approach to wellness will mark the shift from a work-satisfaction mindset to a life-satisfaction mindset. As work and life become more intertwined, these types of programs will assist companies in attracting and retaining talent.
Personalized Wellness
Over the next decade, workplace wellness will become more personalized. Rather than providing all employees with the same wellness benefits and packages, organizations will give employees more control and power over their wellness offerings, allowing them to select wellness programs that better meet their needs.
Organizations must recognize that each employee is at a different point in his or her life, which necessitates the use of different resources and tools to support their lifestyles. This means that businesses must offer a wide range of wellness program options (holistic wellness offerings) and empower employees to choose which program or programs best meet their current needs.
