Pliops XDP for Oracle MySQL enhances infrastructure economics and reduces the total cost of ownership.
FREMONT, CA: “As is so often the case in today's economic environment, MySQL users are challenged to do more with less. There are both business and technical benefits when Pliops XDP is added to MySQL environments," says Marius Tudor, senior vice president, Pliops. Pliops, a leading provider of data processors for cloud and enterprise data centers, disclosed that their Extreme Data Processor (XDP) had been shown to give remarkable performance and efficiency advantages for Oracle MySQL Enterprise Edition at considerable cost savings. The Pliops XDP + MySQL Solution was created to address two of the most significant obstacles to effective database management: performance optimization and enhanced data resiliency for on-premises enterprise customers.
"Our joint solution unlocks and enables new technical capability and business value associated with existing infrastructure while also cost-reducing their setup. Pliops and Oracle are providing customers with the value they would not otherwise see without spending more money on new on-prem infrastructure. As a member of the Oracle Partner Network, we are pleased to collaborate and offer a unique solution that benefits Oracle MySQL users," adds Tudor.

Pliops XDP is a low-profile PCIe-based card that can be installed in minutes and is compatible with any server and SSD. Pliops XDP eliminates storage inefficiencies with its proprietary data-shaping technology that manages the end-to-end data flow between MySQL database software and local storage. Pliops XDP provides improved dependability with integrated data protection and increased usable capacity. Pliops XDP, when installed with Oracle MySQL Enterprise Edition, provides a 3.4x TPS performance gain compared to MySQL Community Edition without XDP, with no modifications to Oracle MySQL software or the server required.
Other benefits of the XDP + MySQL Combination include—more rapid and consistent database performance, around 2x more users and 2x more instances per node with a 50 percent reduction in latency, ease and straightforward to implement, works in any server with any SSD up to 6x more useful database capacity, much-improved system dependability, and data resilience, expanded SSD storage capacity and service life, integrated protection similar to RAID 5 without the capacity penalty, and reduced TCO as a result of the flexibility to increase workloads and facilitate consolidation without requiring extra computing and storage. Users of Oracle MySQL who add Pliops XDP to their system can realize immediate technical improvements and cost savings while gaining more functionality from their MySQL license.
Pliops will participate in a webinar titled "Supercharging Your MySQL Deployment: Performance, Scalability, and Efficiency" that will detail the partnership between Pliops, Oracle, and AMD and explain how to reduce the cost of MySQL deployment while dramatically accelerating performance and enhancing scale, efficiency, and data protection.
