Outsight has secured $20 million to develop AI-powered, 3D sensor cameras for drones, autonomous vehicles, and smart city infrastructure.
FREMONT, CA: The Paris-based startup, Outsight, has raised $20 million in seed funding to develop AI-powered, autonomous vehicles, 3D sensor cameras for drones, and smart city infrastructure. Outsight's 3D Semantic Camera perceives and interprets its surroundings and environment. It recognizes objects, determines their material composition, and takes context into account. The technology is the first to provide this 'Full Situation Awareness' in a mass-produced combination.
Outsight offers cameras to aid with monitoring in public places like airports and malls. The company is bound to see the first applications in smart cities and smart monitoring infrastructure. As the environment is fixed, and it has fewer constraints than putting on vehicles, Outsight will have a version for autonomous vehicles. The vehicle version will first improve safety and reliability for assisted driving systems in construction and mining equipment and airplanes. Outsight's vehicle version could ultimately guide fully autonomous vehicles. The 3D Semantic Camera is a new device and a change of paradigm where Situation Awareness shifts to plug_and_play for the first time, creating a new category of solutions that will unleash tremendous business value. Outsight's 3D affordable perception solution enables significant breakthrough beyond what LiDARs and 2D Cameras can deliver.
Outsight is a developer of a revolutionary sensor, a 3D Semantic Camera, bringing Full Situation Awareness to Smart Machines. The sensor integrates software and hardware to create sensor innovations, providing an unprecedented and affordable ability for systems to grasp, understand, and ultimately interact with their surroundings in real-time. Outsight believes in making the world a smarter and safer place to live in. The company empowers cars, drones, and robots with the superhuman capabilities provided by their 3D Semantic Camera.
