New Experiential Learning to Offer Smart Clinical Training

Jason Aubrey, CEO

A new learning service is helping medical students by delivering effective clinical training in order to meet employer requirements.

FREMONT, CA: “Experiential Learning is taking the traditional clinical training experience and bringing it directly onsite to better meet employer needs. Based on the employers we’ve talked to, they don’t want to wait for a student to go somewhere else for their clinical training. They’d rather have the individual in their facility, as an employee, intern, or even as a volunteer, to finish their training and get hired," says Jason Aubrey, CEO of MedCerts. A provider of online career certification training, MedCerts has unveiled the expansion of its Career Services department with new Experiential Learning services. The expansion is in response to the ever-changing market to align with the healthcare industry's needs and vacancies. The service includes job placement before certification, internships, externships, job shadowing, and volunteer opportunities. Businesses are finding alternative solutions for filling positions due to a lack of available qualified candidates in the growing healthcare industry. MedCerts Experiential Learning adapts to such changes in the industry, providing options to tailor services for clinical students for each market.

"The current process for training and hiring entry-level positions in the healthcare industry is broken. Healthcare facilities across the country have a growing need for front office, back office and clinical specialties like pharmacy technicians, medical assistants and patient care technicians. Not only are they struggling to find trained individuals, but they’re also struggling to retain current employees. MedCerts is working to fix that – finding people that want to get certified and work in the industry and connecting them with healthcare companies," Jason added. "From our perspective, the shortage of candidates in the healthcare industry is an issue that can’t be addressed through current solutions. Traditional educational programs aren’t time or cost-effective for students, so they choose another career path furthering the shortages experienced by healthcare organizations. The national college debt crisis that students are facing isn’t going to change if we keep doing the same things, so MedCerts is doing something different."

Experiential Learning is pioneering online healthcare career training by creating efficient clinical training options meeting employer requirements. Some employers are even hiring students as full-time employees. The employers also provide employees the required clinical experience for their certification exam. MedCerts attempts to find these opportunities as a first step to meet certification requirements and to get students into their careers faster. In case there is unavailability in employment, Career Services assists by providing a paid internship, externship, job shadow, or volunteer opportunity. MedCerts helps students look for such opportunities, providing search strategies, resume writing, and interview preparation. The company has built a dedicated employer pursuit team to expand state, regional, and national Experiential Learning partnerships for its students.

"MedCerts is pioneering the way students learn and employers hire. Our Experiential Learning Services is a progression of that and creates a win-win for both students and employers. Students get hands-on experience while jump-starting their careers, and employers use this opportunity as live interviews, ultimately streamlining the hiring process," adds Jason Aubrey. "In some cases, we have to ask ourselves whether or not traditional education solutions are overeducating students for these positions and creating bad habits. We’ve found most employers want more control over how these students are trained in a clinical environment. MedCerts is creating customizable solutions, like Experiential Learning and Healthcare Apprenticeships that better fit student lifestyles, and bridging the gap between education and workforce training."

MedCerts is an online career training and job assistance school. The eLearning school assists students to gain entry to new careers by developing the skills, knowledge, and experience needed for certification in healthcare, IT, and other developing fields in-demand. MedCerts delivers career and certification training via HD-quality video-based instruction, games and animations, virtual simulations, and on-the-job training. Students get individualized support, with daily growth monitoring and progress reports, exam preparation support, and career services on their path to employment.
