Fremont, CA: Kognito, the leading evidence-based simulation company, has unveiled a new professional development training tool for educators. Emotional & Mental Wellness, an online role-play simulation, raises awareness, knowledge, and skills about emotional and mental health, and also suicide prevention.
"The COVID-19 pandemic has brought students' emotional and mental wellness to the forefront," commented Scott Healy, General Manager of Kognito. "To address the needs of schools and districts, we developed the Emotional & Mental Wellness module to train teachers and school staff on identifying the warning signs of psychological distress. It also builds upon utilization of effective communication techniques with students to discuss concerns, build resilience, and increase connectedness."

The Emotional & Mental Wellness programme prepares educators to lead real-life conversations that strengthen relationships, build resilience, and connect students with appropriate support using a SEL and trauma-informed lens. The programme includes new features such as an optional advanced practise scenario and de-escalation and mindfulness techniques.
More than 750,000 educators, staff, and students in more than 13,000 schools and districts across the United States have used Kognito's evidence-based simulations. These one-of-a-kind online learning experiences have been shown to change behavior by increasing skills and confidence in managing critical conversations about social and emotional wellness, school climate, as well as school safety.
