Juniper Networks Selects Synopsys to Accelerate Development of Photonic ICs for Next-Generation Data Centers.

Synopsys OptoCompiler Platform Provides a Unified, Proven Solution for Optical Communications with Speed and Flexibility.
Fremont, CA: Synopsys, Inc. is a Silicon to SoftwareTM partner for forward-thinking firms creating electrical goods and software applications that we rely on every day. Synopsys, an S&P 500 business, has a long history of being a global leader in electronic design automation (EDA) and semiconductor IP. It boasts the industry's most comprehensive application security testing tools and services portfolio.
"Synopsys offers a unique, unified photonic and electronic design suite, which accelerates customer design cycles and time-to-market," said Tom Mader, head of Silicon Photonics at Juniper Networks. "This will enable Juniper silicon photonics to bring our revolutionary hybrid integrated laser platform to a broad array of customers in several photonic market segments, with the potential to lower cost and eliminate product barriers to entry."
According to Synopsys, Inc., Juniper Networks has chosen the Synopsys OptoCompilerTM platform, which includes the OptSimTM and PrimeSimTM HSPICE® simulation solutions, to speed the development of photonic-enabled chips for next-generation optical communications. Juniper wants to employ Synopsys technologies to build and enhance its hybrid silicon and InP optical platform, allowing customers to handle optical connections in data centers and telecom networks and new emergent applications in artificial intelligence, LiDAR, and other sensors.
The OptoCompiler design platform is the industry's only unified electrical and photonic design platform, integrating mature and dedicated photonic technology with industry-proven bespoke tools from Synopsys to enable engineers to rapidly and precisely build and validate complicated photonic IC designs.
The OptoCompiler platform, with its interactive cockpit design, aids in reducing turnaround times and the danger of human mistakes. It offers a schematic-driven layout flow with photonic-aware layout synthesis and automated features such as aided waveguide routing and photonic circuit auto-alignment.
Synopsys OptSim integrates photonic system and circuit simulation capabilities, as well as electro-optical co-simulation, with Synopsys PrimeSim HSPICE Simulator, the industry "gold standard" for accurate circuit modeling and the cornerstone of the Synopsys PrimeSim Continuum Solution. It also interfaces smoothly with the Synopsys PrimeWaveTM design environment and the OptoCompiler platform's simulation and analysis environment. The OptSim system includes a large photonic model library and is compatible with many photonic IC foundries.
