Juni Learning Raises $10.5 Million from Its Series A Round led by Forerunner Ventures
FREMONT, CA: Juni Learning, a San Francisco, CA-based platform for digital education, offers engaging courses for kids to learn online with live instructors. The company closed a $10.5 Series A round of financing.
The round was led by Forerunner Ventures, with participation from AME Cloud Ventures, led by Yahoo Founder Jerry Yang, Index Ventures, and Pear VC.
The company intends to utilize the funds to continue onboarding instructors and expanding the number and types of accessible courses and materials for kids 8 – 18 years old across the globe.
The funding will allow Juni Learning to unveil new Math and English curriculums, just in time for a new school year. These are designed for students grades 6-12, and are proprietary curriculums mapped to Common Core standards to supplement, enhance, and reinforce the skills taught in schools across the country. These curriculums will be available for 1:1 session as well as learning pods or cohorts of up to four students per class starting from September 2020.
Founded by Vivian Shen and Ruby Lee in July 2017, Juni Learning provides STEM and English courses for kids aged 8-18 and is taught online by live instructors. The online learning platform presents dynamic projects and videos, along with private and small group classes with instructors selected from the top universities in the U.S. Its virtual experience assists kids in learning engagingly– from the most basic concepts through advanced computer programming languages like Scratch, Python, and Java.
With the latest funding round, the company is adding more than hundreds of trained and skilled instructors to meet student needs throughout the pandemic and delivered over 50,000 classes in the past three months alone. Additionally, Juni introduced online coding boot camps, webinars, and group sessions and provided tuition waivers to healthcare workers' families on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
