How Technology is Transforming The Role of CIOs
CIOs have understood the potential of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, IoT, and machine learning and have started to not just implement but embrace them. These technologies are currently driving most of the processes in the industries and are changing the job roles and opportunities. The growth of these technologies in the future is evident as their demand is increasing rapidly and which now has bound the CIOs to evolve with the changing era. Unlike the past, CIOs now require a broader skill set to operate as they now just don’t have to monitor the IT operations but also have to look for new solutions that could be easily integrated into the existing module.
The traditional CIOs are now transforming into digital CIOs. Digital transformation is not just about adopting new technologies but also is more about envisioning how these technologies can be put into a task to obtain a process which fast-paced, low-risk, cost-effective, productive, and minimally disruptive. To achieve such goals CIOs must have knowledge of the latest tech and creativity to incorporate them into a business model. Also, a regular update is required to keep up with the changing environment.
The relationship between CIOs and the rest C-Suite has now become more crucial than ever as the technology has made an impact on every sector and it’s the job of CIOs to evaluate the effects of change and make it understandable to their non-IT peers. To achieve the overall growth of the business, which in the modern era is possible by incorporating technology only, the CIOs, need to convey their technological approach to the rest C-Suite and convenience them to embrace it.
Integrating modern technology with the existing business model also means that, in the proximate future CIOs will also have to focus over the skill development of their employees so they could optimize the tech and achieve the set target. In a nutshell, technology is transforming all aspects of a business from process to people and CIOs will also transit into strategic business partners.
