How Technology Founds Governance Transparency

As digitalization sweeps across governments, the utilization of technologies for transparent governance is gaining momentum.

FREMONT, CA: In the digital age, governments are expected to function with the highest levels of transparency. In such a scenario, gauging the potential of innovations and advancements is the key to determine how technology can empower governments at various levels to achieve transparency. The following list contains some ways in which technologies are about to contribute to making operational procedures of governing bodies see-through.

Ensuring Data Lucidity

Traditionally, governments maintained a high degree of confidentiality. This resulted from the lack of feasible means of data sharing. Today, access to data has become easier than ever. Paper-based systems have transformed into digital ones, enabling governments to store data in ways that citizens can easily access. Open databases result in better government accountability. Several technological advancements, especially those from telecommunications, have together enabled the open format of governance.

Digital Identities and Online Engagement

Governments are leveraging advanced technologies to create digital databases of citizens and build digital identities. The digital identities help governments carry out the online engagement. Through online forums, governments are reaching out to people and getting real-time complaints and suggestions. Be it a minor or a major issue, governments are now in a position to be in direct contact with citizens through digital channels that utilize smartphones and apps.

Processing of Licenses and Documents

Top Government Tech CompaniesProcesses that were prone to corruption are now fast and free from unfair means. By introducing the processing of vital documents and applications for licenses through online platforms, governments have ruled out the chances of unaccounted delays and corrupt practices. This has resulted in transparent systems that are fair and optimized.

Artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, data analytics, and many more technologies are poised to play integral roles in helping governments bring down legacy models and introduce intelligent and accountable systems.
