How Internet of Things Will Change Our Daily Lives
The wide range of devices and sensors associated with buildings and vehicles made with built-in network connectivity are collectively represented as the Internet of Things. These devices that are connected to the Internet, as well as to each other, transmit information to the user. Reports from leading market analysis firms like Gartner suggests that in the coming years, there will be more than 20 billion connected devices in the world.
Over the years, IoT has gained the power to change our world. While the world is witnessing its incredible impact, it’s estimated that we are very much at the beginning of the transformational journey. Soon every device – and nearly every object imaginable – will be connected to the Internet. Whether via wearable tech, phone, or everyday household objects, IoT will be a part of life in the coming days.
From devices including thermostat, alarm system, smoke detector, doorbell, and refrigerator may already be “networked”, but changes are starting to take root in the cities as well. For effective management of basic amenities such as transportation, water, and energy, IoT can be used for bringing people in closer touch with their surroundings for capturing imaginations for urban bliss – a fully integrated, smart, and sustainable city. Furthermore, there has been an impressive increase in innovation and activity on the factory front, where the potential for cyber-physical systems to improve productivity in the production process is vast. At this juncture, life in another few years will look entirely different from how it is today, as the pace of technology change accelerates, thanks to the Internet of Things.
