Mobile health and wellness apps can play a significant role in modern healthcare, especially if there is a gap between users' needs and the external services available to them.
Fremont, CA: In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the use of mobile apps for health and wellness purposes. The industry even has its own name: mobile health, also known as mHealth. The global mobile health market is expected to be worth more than $300 billion US by 2025. More than 53,000 Android health apps were already available in the first quarter of 2021, with new ones being released on a regular basis.

Initially, most health apps focused on the broad concept of wellness. Rather than focusing on specific health conditions, the goal of these apps was to improve physical and mental health in general. Mobile health arose in tandem with a global interest in health and wellness, as promoted by a slew of online influencers who promised to heal your body and mind through exercise, diet, and meditation.
Many people are familiar with fitness apps, and roughly one-third of American adults use them on a regular basis. These can be used for any type of physical activity, with running being one of the most popular. Millions of people have downloaded apps like Map My Run, Couch to 5K, and Runkeeper. Most have a free version as well as paid subscription packages with additional features.
Talking about Mental Health
Headspace and Calm are two of the most popular mental health apps, both of which encourage meditation and mindfulness. Mental health attitudes have become more open around the world, but especially in the US and other Western nations, with an increasing number of people recognizing the importance of psychological self-care. Despite this, the stigma persists in many cases, and there is a global shortage of access to traditional mental healthcare providers.
Gamification
Mobile health and wellness apps can play a significant role in modern healthcare, especially if there is a gap between users' needs and the external services available to them. Unfortunately, sticking to a program can be difficult without the supervision of healthcare professionals. Many users begin strongly but gradually lose focus and motivation.
