Factors to Consider Before Cloud Migration

Factors to Consider Before Cloud MigrationThe emergence of cloud services disrupted traditional infrastructure-based computing services. Cloud computing allows businesses to access programs and applications through the internet without the requirement of a physical server. All the major industries have embraced the cloud services wholeheartedly as the technology has been leveraged by almost all the application from social media platforms, to games, to healthcare and banking applications.

According to a survey by Logic Monitor, it is expected that 83 percent of enterprise workloads will be cloud-native by 2020. The growing acceptance of cloud services needs a proper analysis of the technology solution. Companies need to be aware of the cloud offerings before migrating their workloads to clouds.

Here are some of the pro and cons of cloud computing services:

24/7 Availability: Most of the cloud service providers maintain an uptime of 99.9 percent in their service offerings. They allow an authorized user to access their application at any time from anywhere.

Cloud Companies: 42Q, ActivePlatform, allConnex, ATMECS

Here are some of the pro and cons of cloud computing services:

Scalability: Many organizations experience an increase in their workloads which demands enhanced capacity in their hardware. Cloud services allow enterprises to improve or reduce their capacity based on their requirement.

Reduced Costs: Cloud services eliminate the dependence on hardware for enterprises. cloud service providers allow enterprises to choose a space that suits their requirement, helping companies to save vast amounts of money on infrastructure.

Backup and Recovery: When an organization moves its workloads on the clouds, all of the data and applications are stored in the cloud servers. Cloud service providers offer a higher level of service than physical devices, which also allows enterprises to recover information in case of a crisis.

However, decision-makers must not overlook the following factors:

Limited Control: The cloud service providers offer little to no control to the customers as they manage and monitor the entire cloud architecture. Companies should discuss the control of critical administrative tasks before shifting to cloud services.

Security Glitches: Although cloud services have one of the most advanced security standards to safeguard data, risks such as data loss and data theft cannot be neglected. Cybercriminals can use third-parties to rob a company of its data.
