Employee Engagement - Key to Success
The business environment is proliferating today like never before. In order to survive, organizations are focused on the faster growth in a way that sometimes they forget that the growth has to be attained from organizations’ main assets that are its employees. An organization’s success or failure shows its employees’ engagement with their work.
Employee engagement is all about setting an environment with the right conditions, values, or tools that connect employees with the organization and brings the best from them. An engaged workplace has commitments and enthusiasm driven employees who can connect their individual goal with the goal of the organization.
Following are some of the reasons why employee engagement should be a priority for an organization:
Increases productivity: An engaged employee learn to appreciate their work and tasks allocated to them. An unrecognized employee can be temperamental an end up not doing what they supposed to do. According to the research from Gallup, organizations with engaged employees have 21 percent higher productivity than their unengaged counterparts. High-level employee engagement is one of the firm features of successful and top performing companies.
Increases profitability: High employee engagement leads to high profitability. It displays that the employees are doing their allocated work properly. Also, employees are encouraged to accomplish the task within the stipulated time.
Lowers Absenteeism: Employees who are inspired and enthused towards their work take fewer days off sick than an unengaged one. According to the study of CBI, engaged employees take an average of 2.69 days sick a year, whereas the disengaged take 6.19. When an employee feels demotivated, they will look for ways not to show up at the workplace.
Drives innovation: Engaged employees go the extra mile beyond their individual goals. A higher level of engagement brings higher level of innovations and ideas from the employees. This makes that workplace more responsive to changes and challenges.
Recruits and retains the best: An organization with the higher engagement of the employees attracts the best fit for any positions it advertises. A creative, vibrant workplace draws the attention of the employees. It is easier for the engaged workplaces to retain and recruit best talents from the marketplace.
Employee engagement is about creating an environment that inspires loyalty and import motivation. Organizations need to make employee engagement a priority and increase retention. Employee engagement is the best way to preserve the assets of organizations.
