FREMONT, CA: Cortavo, a leading IT managed services provider (MSP), has begun a full-scale infrastructure refresh spanning May to July 2021. For the project, Cortavo's Engineering Leads Peter Miles and Paul Coad collaborated with Tom Lasswell, their Vice President of IT Operations. This internal team completely upgraded the hardware in the Cortavo data center that supports their VPS cloud service and all of their hosted customers. Normally, hardware and software refreshes are part of the standard routine of continuous system hygiene that all data centers must follow, but this refresh was anything but routine.
New cabinets, powerful servers, the most recent Intel CPUs, more RAM, better cabling, and generous storage hardware were all part of the overhaul. The refresh also included a host software upgrade to the most recent VMware and vCloud Director version, expanding their storage capacity to run faster with plenty of room for expansion and upgrading their internet connectivity. Cortavo's technology refresh heralds the launch of Cortavo Cloud, the company's VPS cloud hosting service for small and medium-sized businesses. This update strengthens system capacity to meet the demands of Cortavo's new suite of cloud services, enhancing the user experience through several key benefits, including:
Processing Speeds: The previous processors were replaced with the latest generation of Intel 3.1 GHz processors, increasing the clock speed for improved user performance and experience.
SD-WAN: New hardware appliances enable redundant internet access via a vast peering network with other major data centers via a secure tunnel. This tunnel connects via a powerful backbone that begins with a major local hub, resulting in a short communications pathway with increased speed and no latency, resulting in better browsing and phone experience. Cortavo Cloud's new hosting provides a full, redundant internet connection that leverages two channels and two different carriers for increased speed by prioritizing the minor resistant channels.
"As many project participants have realized, this is not simply a routine refresh, but also an upgrade," Tom Lasswell said. "With this new infrastructure in place, our Cortavo Cloud VPS customers and users should experience lightning-fast interactions, proceed with the confidence of heightened security and enjoy console access seldom granted with big cloud providers. This is a huge leap forward for our clients and they're going to feel the difference as they use our services."
