Blackboard and Busuu Join Hands to Provide Students with Individualized Language Instruction via Blackboard Learn

Personalized study programs tailored to each learner's specific goals and AI-powered grammar and vocabulary review tools that target areas a student needs to enhance are among its smart features.
FREMONT, CA: Blackboard, a prominent worldwide EdTech software and solutions business collaborated with Busuu, the world's biggest language learning community, to provide language training at higher education institutions. Students will benefit from Busuu's tailored approach to developing language skills through Blackboard Assist, a feature within Blackboard Learn that links students to resources and assistance they may require to succeed.
Apprenticeship and mentorship have been helpful to provide personalized learning for hundreds of years. Personalized learning shaped intelligent tutoring systems as educational technology advanced in the second part of the previous century. Big data and learning analytics are ready to change customized learning once more in this century.
"We're excited to partner with Blackboard to offer Busuu as a complement to institutions' language programs," said Valentino Serino, Head of Partnerships at Busuu. "Our global community of learners and personalized, AI-powered approach are helping students learn languages in a fun and effective way."
Busuu's award-winning app mixes expert-created courses with a worldwide community of students who can practice their language abilities with native speakers. Personalized study programs tailored to each learner's specific goals and AI-powered grammar and vocabulary review tools that target areas a student needs to enhance are among its smart features. In addition, learners can select from 12 language courses and obtain authentic McGraw Hill certifications. The collaboration makes Busuu Premium, which offers students access to all Busuu's features, readily available for students at a subsidized fee.
"Blackboard Assist is enabling institutions to increase access to student support and provide that access around-the-clock," said Mary Gross, Senior Director of Partnerships at Blackboard. "With more than 100 million users, Busuu has proven its ability to help students bolster their spoken language, reading and vocabulary skills, and with 24/7 availability, students can access Busuu when and where they need it."
