Fremont, CA: Bitdefender, a global cybersecurity leader, has confirmed new enhancements to its Bitdefender Premium Virtual Private Network (VPN) Service designed to bolster privacy, identity protection and security for consumers. New ad blocker and anti-tracker modules, as well as whitelisting capabilities, enable consumers to browse the web securely and privately from anywhere in the world using a computer or mobile device. It is simple to set up and has an easy-to-use interface for any level of user.
Consumers are becoming increasingly concerned about who has access to their personally identifiable information, and also data collected about their online activities, and how that data is traded, sold, and used. Even when customers use "Private Browsing" or "Incognito" modes in major web browsers, internet service providers (ISPs), wireless hotspots, and websites frequently collect information about their browsing history and online behavior.

On open public Wi-Fi networks, data tracking, spyware, and other malicious threats are still a reality. According to Firefox telemetry, approximately 80 percent of global web traffic is encrypted. Furthermore, a study discovered that approximately 6% of the top 10,000 HTTPS-secured websites had TLS protocol security flaws.
According to recent Bitdefender research, the majority of consumers (61 percent) do not use VPN services and anti-trackers, ad blockers (44 percent), or privacy software of any kind (64 percent) on the personal devices they use the most for online activities.
"It has become increasingly difficult for consumers to maintain privacy and keep their data secure as they conduct their digital lives online," stated Ciprian Istrate, vice president, Bitdefender Consumer Solutions. "We incorporated ad blocking and anti-tracking capabilities to Bitdefender Premium VPN to deliver both solid protection and anonymity as users enjoy favorite online activities without concern their online behaviors are being tracked or personal data collected and sold either legally or illegally."
