UpCloud, the European leader in high-performance cloud hosting, unveils a new data centre in New York, USA
FREMONT, CA: With another data centre added, UpCloud’s customers in North America now have the option to choose from three different locations of data centres. The company’s latest data centre was unveiled in New York recently. This facility is the third one in North America after Chicago and San Jose data centres and is also the ninth across the globe.
The New York data centre is named US-NYC1 and offers the same extraordinary performance as other UpCloud’s data centres. Moreover, the entire facility runs on 100 percent renewable power from wind.

The US-NYC1 is UpCloud’s first data centre that performs entirely based on the new AMD EPYC processor architecture. This new breed of server processors sets a more exceptional standard for data centres with higher numbers of CPU cores and increased performance on all workloads.
“We have been deploying EPYC hardware also to our other data centres to run alongside the existing Intel Xeon hosts. But by deploying in US-NYC1, our users will make sure that they are running on the EPYC processors,” says UpCloud’s founder and CTO Joel Pihlajamaa.
The building of more than ten new data centres across Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia is a part of UpCloud’s growth strategy. The global expansion of the company is being fuelled by an €18 million investment; it secured at the beginning of 2020. Shortly after the opening of the New York data centre, UpCloud is also inaugurating a couple of new data centres in several European locations.
UpCloud’s data centres in all locations, comply with the latest security standards. By having more number of data centres in different regions, UplCloud has significantly increased its performance and reliability to the customers. This reduces the distance to the end-user, minimizes the website load times, and enhances the overall user experience.
UpCloud is also hiring new employees for its offices in Helsinki, London, Seattle, and Singapore. They aim to recruit up to 100 new colleagues across all departments by the end of 2021.
