Labcyte has been recognized by CIO Applications Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top 25 Biotechnology Solution Companies - 2017,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry, and is also named among “,” reflecting its broader leadership. This profile has been developed by the CIO Applications research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Mark D. Fischer-Colbrie, President & CEO.
Mark D. Fischer-Colbrie, President & CEOLabcyte uses a revolutionized way of liquid handling that produces faster and more accurate results than traditional methods. Echo Liquid Handlers as Labcyte calls them, use a process called acoustic droplet ejection (ADE), dispensing small amounts of liquid along with focused beams of ultrasonic acoustic energy, ejecting droplets of fluid in 2.5 nanolitre increments from one plate well to another, allowing the transfer of up to 750,000 samples a day. The process mitigates the need for device calibration, while the handlers use a simple system that handles multiple workflows and generates faster results, enabling laboratory scientists to do more with less.
Labcyte provides a range of Liquid Handlers for different applications, right from bio-chemical assays, protein crystallography and micro-sampling, to functional screening and sequencing in cancer research and synthetic biology in genomics research and many more. Labcyte also provides software solutions that are tailor-made for many laboratory applications, enabling clients to get the most out of their Echo Liquid Handlers. Their applications use a combination of pop-up wizards and interactive graphics, making the editing of complex protocols intuitive and easy to use.
