Since 2008, Keyot—one of the nation’s fastest growing certified women-owned/led businesses—has enabled corporations throughout the U.S. to complete key initiatives, manage complex programs, ensure delivery expectations are met while also helping these organizations develop the workforce for tomorrow. This award-winning consulting firm does so by delivering solutions for businesses in agile transformation, project/program management, and compliance remediation while embracing agile principles in everything they do.
"We start every project with the end in mind. Our expert consultants understand what a successful engagement looks like by collaborating with our client stakeholders, beginning with planning, and continuing all the way through execution," says Keyot Co-Founder and President Anjie Cayot.
In an interview with CIO Applications, Anjie, along with Laura Kelly, the Co-founder, and CEO of Keyot, provide an intriguing insight into the company, its culture, Crew212—Keyot’s emerging-leader program, and their plans for the future.
Please tell our readers about the Crew212 program.
Laura: Crew212 is our award-winning junior consulting solution which launches enthusiastic, diverse, and talented young professionals into a variety of business and technology careers. The primary goal of this program is to provide businesses with a passionate and highly qualified workforce that helps them build the future leaders of the organization. This innovative program also provides company leadership with the opportunity to look at their products from a young person’s perspective as a future consumer by placing them in key roles on critical projects.
With Crew212, Keyot provides clients with the execution talent to tackle some of their biggest workforce challenges. Clients often pair these technology-enabled professionals with our experienced senior resources, leveraging the best of the generations.
Crew212’s success is built on a combination of creative recruiting, robust training, and on-going mentoring.
As a women-owned firm, we have a strong passion for enabling a diverse and talented future workforce
Anjie: As a women-owned firm, it has always been our mission to support and increase the number of women and minorities in business and technology leadership roles. Crew212 enables us to achieve that goal by hiring, training, and mentoring deserving candidates from a variety of backgrounds. In addition, the Crew212 program enables businesses to create a diverse and balanced workforce with the right mix of experienced and gifted young professionals. We are passionate about helping our clients build the future leaders of their organizations.
Could you provide insight into your typical client engagement process?
Anjie: As we lead clients through transformational changes, one of our primary goals is to help them to institutionalize those changes. We don’t want to create dependency on us, rather we want our clients to continue to thrive long after our engagement ends. We first listen to clients’ goals to understand their business processes and hurdles, then we craft a solution based on our significant institutional knowledge and agile processes.
Could you share with us a customer success story?
Anjie: We work primarily in the financial services space. Most of our client base consists of banks, insurance companies and money movement service providers who need to establish a strong digital footprint to serve their clients better and run their daily operations without interruptions.
One Fortune 50 financial services provider in the U.S. reached out to Keyot for help bringing agile into their organization so that they might embrace a more customer-centric mindset. They had previously worked with other consultants who had only equipped them with heavy-handed methodologies, which delayed their speed to market initiatives. As a result, they never got the desired outcome.
We believe in starting small. We began by partnering with a few very innovative leaders, applying an agile mindset on one or two projects. Then we brought in Keyot’s agile immersion training for entire teams and began using the newly trained talent to launch projects. After conducting six such training sessions, we followed a "train the trainer" approach and enabled the client to take over the training. Today, they have successfully launched over 400 teams.
What does the future hold for Keyot?
Laura: We always get fantastic feedback from our clients. Such positive responses always encourage us to innovate further. Today, we are successfully serving clients in 12 states across the country. Looking forward, we are making plans to expand our reach into new markets.
Anjie: Keyot has become a trusted resource for transforming organizations, filling gaps in strategic roles within business, technology and security functions, and helping clients overcome some of their biggest workforce challenges. Our focus on enabling clients to achieve their most important goals is one of our key differentiators, and we believe it will help us reach the aggressive growth goals we’ve set for Keyot.
