iNDX.Ai has been recognized by CIO Applications Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top 10 Bioinformatics Solution Companies - 2019,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry, and is also named among “,” reflecting its broader leadership. This profile has been developed by the CIO Applications research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Mohan Uttarwar, CEO.
Mohan Uttarwar, CEOIn an exclusive interview with CIOApplications, Mohan Uttarwar, CEO of iNDX.Ai, speaks about how his company is revolutionizing the immuno-oncology landscape through their SaaS-based multi-omic platform, its unique value proposition, and roadmap for the future.
What are the top technological trends gaining traction in bioinformatics particularly in the research and treatment of cancer?
Historically, the protocol followed for cancer was diagnosis, treatment through chemotherapy and radiation, which ultimately led to the patient being cured but with several side effects. However, with the advent of immunotherapy, there is a paradigm shift happening in the cancer research industry. The advances in the field of genomics, bioinformatics and proteomics has triggered great expectations in the way cancer is detected, diagnosed, and treated while disrupting the oncology sector.
The constantly altering nature of cancer has obligated firms to work harder to find the best cure and treatment methods. The combination of technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, machine learning, natural language processing and cloud computing are bringing revolutionary breakthroughs in cancer research and treatment.
Describe about your innovative platform iCore. How does it help firms in their cancer research process?
Our cloud-based bioinformatics application suite, iCore, has a state-of-the-art infrastructure that assembles the data from the key stakeholders in clinical trials such as CROs, labs, bio-banks and sites, and displays it through a single window of truth for the researchers, the iDiscovery dashboard. The comprehensive platform offers a cloud based secure Data-Lake, set of tools and micro-services applications built using iNDX.Ai’s open API, which can be utilized by organizations to design their own applications or integrate with their internal systems. iCore manages the complex data streams, consolidates the medical research information into relevant bits, analyzes and visualizes the data, and delivers it to the researchers while enhancing their decision-making process and adding value to the progress in cancer research.
We offer a blockchain-based workflow to ensure chain of custody, chain of identity and sample integrity for the clinical trials and the data that is used in research process
The developments in immunotherapy have marked a turning point in oncology. Unlike traditional healing methods, which involved chemotherapy, radiation or surgery for cancer treatment, immunotherapy retrains the immune system to fight the condition from the inside, down to the cellular level. The amalgamation of science, technology and business models are disrupting oncology research and transforming the field at a great pace. At iNDX.Ai, we collaborate with the various players involved in clinical trials, gather clinical intelligence and integrate the advancements in computational technology into our suite of applications resulting in the creation of our revolutionary cloud-based solutions that helps researcher identify to unique multi-omic biomarkers that differentiate responders from non-responders. This help Bio-Pharma companies recruit right patients to enables better outcomes
iNDX.Ai’s iCore integrates cognitive technologies to connect the disparate data present in the medical organization. Through iCore’s efficient data organization, scientists can obtain meaningful data for their researches and inventions.
Can you share a customer success story with us to bring out the effectiveness of your solutions?
The success of our solutions is evident from our satisfied customers in our increasing clientele. One of our customers, a small-sized biotech company who was in phase two of their clinical trials did not possess the adequate facilities to conduct trials for their products. The studies that were conducted at various sites, samples were sent to different labs and data was stored at different locations with limited in-house expertise in bioinformatics and analysis. To get answers to the scientific questions would take on an average 3-4 weeks. The lengthy waiting periods prompted the organization to reach out to iNDX.Ai for its iCore application suite, which put an end to the company’s long days of anticipation for the research results. With iCore, the researchers were able to get access to the data at their fingertips and answers to their scientific questions in matter of minutes instead of weeks. The platform eliminated the need for researchers to wait for the results from different vendors to make critical clinical decisions regarding the immune-oncology trials.
What makes your platform different from your competitors in the industry?
iCore is a revolutionary platform built on open APIs which can be used by big as well as small sized organizations. Our platform offers a suite of applications like iTracker for sample tracking, a discovery dashboard- iDiscovery, and a query engine and question tool- iQuery, which lends value and quality to cancer research and treatment development. Our applications were built in-house, using our own APIs, which can be used by customers to build their own products or integrate with their existing systems. We offer a blockchain-based workflow to help clinical operation folks to ensure chain of custody, chain of identity and sample integrity for the clinical trials and the data that is used in research process. Using the features of AI and ML, we have built a correlation engine that also gives us predictions for discovery related queries based on the data to ensure that the right trial is chosen and optimized to make the outcome successful.
Our platform is easy to access along with ensuring research data security and access control. Other notable highlights that the platform offers include 21 CFR Part 11 compliant infrastructure applications with GDPR certification and HIPAA certification under process.
Could you provide us more details on the firm’s future plans?
Our major focus is on immune-oncology where we want to expand our technology by further automating our correlation engine to come up with predictive scores for better results and enhanced outcomes. We are also planning to collaborate with oncology research institutes to upgrade our platform using genomics and multi-omic testing. We want to reach out to biotech and pharmaceutical organizations that can leverage our platform to run their clinical trials securely and confidently for better outcomes.
