Field service solutions have significantly evolved in the last couple of years—aiming to ease out the jobs of field service personnel’s—enabling easier management of company resources. Pennsylvania-based Fieldbit takes field service software a step further with the incorporation of Augmented Reality (AR).

Fieldbit Hero is an enterprise-grade, interactive collaboration platform that enables the exchange of information between field service technicians, experts, management and customers through two-way live video exchange with real-time AR annotations, voice and messaging.

The highlight of Hero is that it will work with any commercially available smart glasses, such as Google Glass, as well as mobile devices, allowing technicians to perform repairs easily as both their hands are free. Being a SaaS platform, technicians can begin a repair session on one platform and continue on another when needed. Hero comes with a powerful AR annotations editor that allows experts to send out AR instructions to field technicians in real-time. It even allows for a defined sequence for step-wise instructions, allowing technicians to pinpoint things that need fixing. Hero uses Fieldbit’s HeadTeractive™ technology that uses intuitive head gestures that are designed specifically for the field service environment.

Fieldbit Cosmic is a software engine that allows clients to extend the functionality of Hero, by integrating it with other systems within their organizations. Cosmic is a Software Development (SDK) and API that equips clients with the tools to build an interface between the Hero and any proprietary or off-the-shelf system. The data Fieldbit receives related to service and repair processes are accumulated and stored in a central repository. This allows the information to be shared and reused at any time, across the organization.
