A Torch Bearer in the Low Code/ No Code Space
eTelic’s robust platform, Turanto, allows even non-programmers to design compelling web and mobile applications effortlessly. It reduces the time and cost associated with application development by allowing users to leverage visual modeling with externally supplied AI assisted templates to build applications. This helps the Office of the CIO/Center of Excellence to establish a standard template and thus ensure application compliance to security or other policies.

A template could be as simple as a commenting standard or as complex as integrating an enterprise-wide data system. The organization can create its domain specific entities for internal use. This significantly reduces application development and maintenance complexity.
"We provide pre-tested code with half a dozen configurable ways to assert permissions and control data visibility. The platform supports a complete Entity–Relationship (ER) model with any number of business specific rules. The rule engine is open-sourced and included, allowing new rules to be easily added,” Paithane adds. Since Turanto was built incrementally for taking enterprise applications live, it has undergone several CIO evaluations already.

A unique differentiator for eTelic is that it allows clients to opt for a subscription to create an unlimited number of applications while leaving the runtime free for them. Unshackled of the cost scaling, there are now more applications that can be created without having budgeted for them first. "We give clients complete source code of their applications, so they are never locked into our runtime environment. They can then choose to host with us, or, download thecode and documentation and host it in-house,” Paithane says. “Turanto builds SaaS applications automatically – so the application you just built can go enterprise-wide or internet-wide and serve clients without re-development,” he adds.
Turanto has the immense capability to revamp today’s application development practice. A typical application development process involves a product owner explaining what needs to be done to the development team, who then leverage the daily scrum/agile processes for feedback. However, this does not help the developer write code faster or improve his turnaround time. With Turanto, a business analyst can create close to a final working solution – and then hand over the specific stories of modification to the developer. Thus, developers can work much faster and with a specific focus. “In addition to quick development, Turanto has also enabled better customer feedback cycles, resulting in far more effective solutions than before,” mentions Celeste Ponsioen, Lead Analyst, Customer Projects.
eTelic’s goal is to keep Turanto priced lower than it would cost to hire an outsourced developer. “You can add Turanto to your team with negligible cost,” Paithane remarks. This will make every member of the team more productive and help them focus on business-specific challenges. “And like a developer’s output, all codes and artifacts generated by Turanto are yours to keep and own,” he asserts.

Demonstrating Value in the Real World
Today, applications built with Turanto have found home in the UN, the U.S. Navy, the National Guard, and many state agencies. For example, Turanto was behind developing the Emergency Response Management System for National Guard in Virginia. The solution enables guardsmen to report to duty remotely while allowing the control room to receive an active status of boots on the ground in real-time. eTelic also played a vital role in designing the carbon data reporting infrastructure that is running live across more than 100 countries. Paithane mentions another instance where eTelic worked with a State Agency to create a standard way to reduce literally a hundred individual Excel sheets and applications across several hospitals and combine them into one Turanto application.
These are just some snippets of successful projects that eTelic has completed over the years. So far, the company has grown organically with private funds, and they are planning to take on investors and advisors to enter new markets and geographies. eTelic has seen tremendous interest from Australia, Middle East, Africa, and the APAC region in addition to the U.S.
Going forward, eTelic also wants to support more technologies and frameworks for code. "We already have the ability to create feature rich and secure enterprise applications with documentation, test scripts, and the necessary Azure / AWS deployments. We now want to add more AI and block chain integration into our templates. CIOs face significant risks and tradeoffs in delivering applications.
