ENSCO’s team of meteorologists develops, evaluates and transitions new technologies into operations for weather support to America’s space program. The Applied Meteorology Unit (AMU) has been staffed by ENSCO’s employees since its inception in 1991.The AMU, jointly sponsored by NASA, the United States Air Force, and the National Weather Service, provides technology development, evaluation and transition services to improve weather support for space flight, the military, and commercial spaceport operations.
ENSCO also has extensive knowledge of missile flight safety systems, airborne vehicle systems particularly navigation, telemetry and flight termination, test range instrumentation and communication, and geophysical and meteorological phenomena.

The company has also developed mathematical models and simulators to reduce the risks associated with range instrumentation modernization programs. Using these tools to create test data and simulate sensor input, the company can conduct performance testing earlier in the development cycle than a traditional test program, resulting in lower cost and lower risk solutions. ENSCO’s Simulation, Test and Recording System (STARS) system is an advanced range instrumentation or missile simulator used to evaluate range safety and mission-critical systems for the U.S. aerospace test ranges. STARS system creates and manages multiple sessions to test the readiness of real-time mission-critical systems, investigate complex scenarios and perform operator training through the seamless integration of recorded and simulated data.
ENSCO has also been performing Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) for customers since 1969 with solutions that are customized for specific program requirements and timeframes. ENSCO’s experience includes aircraft engine and missile programs, as well as weapons and space platforms.
