Data Glove Inc. has been recognized by CIO Applications Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top 10 Cloud Consulting/Service Companies - 2020,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry, and is also named among “,” reflecting its broader leadership. This profile has been developed by the CIO Applications research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Naheed Syed.
Naheed SyedWhat led to the conception of GRMI (now Data Glove Inc.)?
When I started as an entrepreneur and founded GRMI in 1993 as a consulting firm, my vi-sion was to grow the business by leveraging my background and expertise across multiple corporate areas. I utilized my experience in staff augmentation, application development, project delivery, cloud, and security solutions to provide the same services, filling in the gaps for my clients. In the 90’s, when I left my corporate career, the entire IT industry still revolved around centralization and decentralization of Datacenters and ensuring the infra-structure which supported them was secure. My experience in telecommunications for over 15 years enabled me to build, service, and secure datacenters and infrastructure. I knew cloud would soon become the next industry norm, and prepared the organization to em-brace this transformation proactively. The term cloud (private, public and hybrid) and the benefits were not well understood until big players like Amazon and Microsoft started hit-ting the market with their solutions. Cloud technology is old wine in a new bottle. In the past, many organizations used private networks and owned their infrastructure. As the costs associated with owning the infrastructure, datacenters, and the support for private networks became substantially high, organizations started to embrace public cloud technologies.
What are some of the significant challenges your clients face, and what do you offer to help alleviate them?
As cloud computing transformed the digital world, organizations realized that they could sell their software and services through the cloud. But not many companies possessed the knowledge to build the infrastructure that could deliver their services via the cloud. We helped fortune 500 companies in the U. S. utilize the cloud and deliver their services. Organ-izations struggle to choose an appropriate cloud service provider that fits their business re-quirements. Industry leaders initially hesitated to choose private, public, and hybrid cloud infrastructures as they were still expensive. Later, cloud technology became a cost-effective way of providing services to users and clients globally. This was because cloud costing and charging became much more conducive to utilization of the cloud resources rather than having dedicated servers or cloud storage. More so, when a proper cloud is configured it eliminates the need for downtime and improves security and workplace performance.
Cloud computing also transformed legacy applications and enormous amounts of Data stored by Corporations. New micro-services, containerizing and the way data is ingested took the market by storm, disrupting many processes for both technical and business func-tions. For instance, a bank must now provide round-the-clock services, throughout the year, at any time, using any device which cannot be achieved using traditional processes.
However, the challenge here is to optimize the cloud for various applications. There is no denying that an organization must change the applications to take full advantage of the cloud pricing model. Many organizations struggle to perform application optimization and take full advantage of the cloud. We work with such organizations to educate them on what cloud modernization and optimization can achieve for them and then help them execute it. For example, we may evaluate their mainframe applications or Unix applications and readi-ness to migrate to the new Cloud model.
What differentiates your company from your competitors?
As a technology company, we pride ourselves on innovation. We ensure that our clients re-ceive the best of our services at a competitive cost. Consider an organization that uses a traditional accounting system to issue checks and invoice every day. A traditional accounting system is labor heavy and may be error prone, causing it to function inefficiently. In this type of scenario, we would help to intelligently automate labor-intensive tasks and processes, making them efficient. We could create software robots using AI, ML, NLP, and IOT. Instead of spending too much time performing mundane tasks, employees can be more productive and learn new skills. We understand that to stay competitive in today’s market, businesses need to innovate and be agile enough to adapt to change. These days, besides the intelligence quotient (IQ), the adaptability quotient (AQ) has become just as significant.
What is the future roadmap for your company?
In the last 12 to 18 months, we have expanded our footprint in the U.S., India, Australia, Eu-rope and Costa Rica through our merger with Data Glove Inc. Apart from being a Microsoft Gold Partner, we’re working with AWS, Google, and many other opensource service provid-ers. We will continue to concentrate on cloud services along with specializing in data science and Intelligent automation and help organizations understand the value of Data, AI, ML, NLP and IOT within the cloud.
