Founded in 2008, Asana is project management software that helps teams plan, organize, track, and manage their work. It is software designed to improve team collaboration by providing a single platform to manage all your projects. From creating projects to assigning work, scheduling deadlines, or general communication, Asana is perfect for managing and coordinating teams and projects, both large and small. "To plan and execute your work, you don't have to navigate outdated docs and disparate messages with Asana," says Dustin Moskovitz, Co-founder, and CEO. "Instead, you can manage and track all of your projects and tasks from a single location. The tool integrates with the rest of the content and communication tools, so nothing falls through the cracks."
The Right Tool for Remote Teams
Asana offers a useful set of tools to manage projects effectively. The idea is to create a central place where the team's goals, tasks, and files can be accessed. Work can be organized into lists, Kanban-style boards, or calendar views. It equally offers a customizable dashboard that displays the progress for each task as well as the status of each team member. Additionally, it has a focus mode that allows teams to concentrate on productive tasks.
Everyone understands how important communication is for any project, and more so when dealing with a group of people. Before introducing all-inclusive project management software like Asana, teams had to use a different tool for each aspect of a project. For instance, one tool for syncing calendars, a different one for communication, etc. With Asana, users can manage all aspects of your project, including communication, by using one platform. You can transfer all corporate communication to Asana's communication portal, conversations without using a third-party app. However, if you prefer another communication tool, you can still use it within Asana.
Timeline is one of Asana's most impressive features. This feature enables project tasks to be viewed on a timeline so that you can see how they all connect. In each project, one can select the tab labeled "Timeline" to generate a Gantt chart view of the project. This is useful because it displays all the phases of the project which ones have been completed and which ones are pending.

Asana's Expanding Offerings in Pandemic
Asana recently announced a new suite of features aimed at eliminating work distractions and assisting employees in regaining focus. People will be able to reduce the number of meetings they attend with Video Messaging, prioritize their work with My Task, set specific times to focus with Clock wise's smart calendar assistant, and silence notifications with the Asana desktop app.
Asana's Universal Reporting provides new ways for leaders to track how work is progressing toward business-critical goals. Its Work Graph data model delivers fully connected, accurate reports with real-time information on team activities, workloads, and budget. According to an Asana study, the pandemic's accelerated virtual work environment caused senior management of organizations to spend 58 percent of their time following up on work. Making activities like searching for information about the tasks and holding status meetings have increased significantly. By offering features such as real-time information about work status and a streamlined reporting system, Universal Reporting assist in meeting this unexpected demand. Moreover, Asana's integration with ServiceNow improves process management and operational teams' visibility and collaboration. It makes it easier for cross-functional teams to collaborate, regardless of where they are located. Users can create tasks directly from the ServiceNow workflow, which can then be shared across teams, departments, and tools to expedite activities and responses.
Offering a Unique Value Proposition
"Asana is based on a flexible data model, the work graph, which links the dots between structured and unstructured data about the people, work and goals in the organization. This means that work can be managed and monitored in the most efficient and up-to-date manner for each team," says Moskovitz.
The platform provides a free service that allows users to create an unlimited number of projects and tasks with up to 15 teammates while utilizing all of the platform's basic features. It also offers a premium subscription that provides customers with access to more advanced features and analytics. In addition to its premium subscription, Asana offers business and enterprise packages, which allow organizations to collaborate across multiple initiatives and align on processes and goals, as well as more advanced security features. These versions of Asana are compatible with key business applications such as Salesforce, Tableau, PowerBI, and Adobe.
Asana now has more than 50,000 paying customers, up from 20,000 just six quarters ago. This is in addition to the over one million organizations that have registered for its free service. Its revenue growth rate has accelerated in each of the last six quarters, now hovering around 90% year over year. "We're proud of our achievements, and we're grateful to our customers for accompanying us on this journey, as well as our Asana teammates for their enthusiasm and commitment to our mission. The investments we're making in three areas are critical to our recent growth: international expansion, product innovation, and supporting large enterprises." concludes Moskovitz.
