“I believe in developing very strategic relationships with our customers.” This statement from Richard Bennett, the President and CEO of Advanced Systems Development (ASD) appropriately defines the core values of the firm. Bennett developed his penchant for customer service from a logical yet unlikely source. He believed in the philosophy of customer service ever since the time he worked with his father in his automobile repair shop. Every time he got a call from a customer, he would do everything necessary to provide the best service. He instilled this philosophy into his 250 employees, who work towards delivering superior customer service to each client. Established in 1979, ASD supports federal agencies with an extensive portfolio of services including Network Engineering and Operations Management, Data Center Engineering and Support, C4ISR, Knowledge Engineering, Cyber, Cloud, Software Engineering, and Asset Management and Logistics.

Initially started as a help desk company, ASD transformed services to everything IT—Information Technology. The company brings extensive experience in working with federal agencies such as Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), and DoD. Currently, ASD supports the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joint Service Provider (JSP), Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the Department of State. ASD has acquired various other significant projects under Bennett’s supervision, who brings valuable knowledge and experience of working at different management/technology positions.

Considering ASD’s OSD performance, it was contracted by the Space and Missile Defense Command, MDA and Army projects.

Other key projects that earned ASD immense credibility in the IT sector include IT Build-outs of the Von Braun Campus in Alabama and the Secretary of Defense’ Global Situational Awareness Facility and achievement of Authority to Operate (ATO) on JSP and ATEC networks. “We have worked on several projects and garnered a niche in the government technology sector,” states Bennett.

ASD is now working with three-lettered organizations to build open-source security platform to provide advanced technologies. ASD employs Vectra’s threat detection AI that spots prospective malicious behavior in networks and signals the response team. ASD has an ‘Advanced Technologies Group’ committed to delivering avant-garde cybersecurity and cloud-based solutions to solve complicated problems for customers.

ASD is broadening its business base into evolving areas of Advanced Technology Solutions (ATS), including Cybersecurity, Cloud Technology, and other capabilities; and by doing so, expanding its customer base into new agencies demonstrating the need for these products and services. It is important to recognize a Business Plan for ATS as a dynamic instrument by its focus—Advanced Technologies, especially in cybersecurity. As cyber threats evolve, so does the firm’s solutions to defeat such threats.

Products under evaluation are targeted at Real Time Threat Identification and Management, Automated Threat Remediation, Full Packet Capture technologies at 40 Gig and higher, Agentless Endpoint Detection and Response, Incident Response Orchestration, Advanced Application Security, Converged Storage Solutions, Cloud Deployment Engineering Services, and Software Defined Networking. It is expected that the mix of targeted solutions will evolve as the dynamics of IT and cybersecurity evolve.

ASD provides a full range of integration and operations services coincident with deployed advanced technologies including requirements analysis, domain architecture site surveys, product integration and performance validation testing/tuning, operations and maintenance, and lifecycle management. Such activities are supported by engineering/ technical leads.

Bennett believes the future of ASD will be determined by its employees. To keep the staff operating at optimum efficiency, the company spends $300,000 to $500,000 annually on training and skill development on emerging technologies and methodologies.
