DECEMBER 2018CIOAPPLICATIONS.COM6With the New and Old2018 was an excellent year for SAP and 2019 promises to be a transformative one for SAP, and its customers, by the looks of it. Heading into the New Year, the strategy of the juggernaut includes a mix of some tried and tested elements and new entities. For instance, with deals like the one which involved Qualtrics, the Utah-based "experience management" company, went back one of the old strategies that it has employed since 2011--buy market-leading cloud assets. From SuccessFactors, followed by Ariba way back in 2011 the trend continued with companies like Fieldglass, Concur and Hybris. SAP has consistently every 12 to 24 months, gone out into the market and bought a market-leading cloud asset proving that the company will continue to drive their business toward the cloud, and build toward the cloud. These acquisitions, which will continue in 2019, will only help supplement that idea alongside partnerships that are relevant to the company. On the contrary, something new in the industry leader's playbook is Machine Learning/AI. The company's interest in Machine Learning/AI have manifested into SAP CoPilot--a digital assistant and bot integration hub that allows users to chat, just as if they were talking to a human being. It helps customers make decisions based on complex data analysis that has done in real-time. Rest assured, SAP is making this a top priority in 2019.On that note, we here at CIO Applications bring you this edition on SAP.
