Established as a manufacturing consulting firm in 1989, the company later diversified to provide software tools for manufacturing firms. "Our software product was born out of the realization that there weren't sufficient tools for small manufacturers at that time," states Renato DeGasperis, President of INDUSTRIOS Software. Since initial customers already had accounting products that were deemed acceptable at the time, INDUSTRIOS focused on developing advanced manufacturing functionality that supported best practices and processes. The initial product design of a point solution is still a strong point of INDUSTRIOS today. INDUSTRIOS ERP handles all aspects of a plant's operations, while leaving treasury functions to various accounting packages. This approach creates several markets for the company, not the least of which is the fact that INDUSTRIOS is, and can be, installed in small subsidiaries of large corporate groups where ROI for a tier 1 implementation might not be sufficient to match corporate or subsidiary objectives. With today's modern integration tools and a well-designed operations suite, it is much easier to write integrations to touch points in a financial application, than to try to shoehorn a Tier 1 manufacturing solution in a small entity. "This approach allows us to focus on operational challenges without having to modify treasury processes and practices," says Eva DeGasperis, Vice President of INDUSTRIOS. Company resources can be focused at the areas where it hurts, like throughput, inventory levels, material availability, or on-time deliveries, to name a few. This strategy of course hinges on the breadth and depth of functionality in INDUSTRIOS, which over the years has grown extensively. One such corporate client claims that INDUSTRIOS ERP rivals and in some areas exceeds functionality offered by the Tier 1 ERP. Another angle this strategy has created is that of an OEM approach to ERP suites whose manufacturing functionality competes for development dollars with other verticals. The end result is one where the manufacturing capabilities of these suites are not as deep as the market requires, creating a need for an advanced manufacturing suite. Over the years INDUSTRIOS has run into several such software suites that have watered down operational facilities costing manufacturers time and money. The INDUSTRIOS approach of integrating advanced manufacturing to existing accounting software is viewed by many as representing the investment option with a) the shortest, most attractive payback period potential; and b) the most sustainable TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) for the subsidiary. To facilitate integrations, INDUSTRIOS created its ESI (External Systems Interface). ESI allows the creation of mappings, scheduling of frequency of updates, allows for bi-directional flow of data, managing exceptions etc., making it cost-effective and efficient to develop COMPANY OF THE MONTHApril 2016
