With The Emergence of AI, The Future of Mankind is Bright
Humans have evolved on earth by adapting to the surroundings and have surpassed the intelligence of every other species. They have altered a wide variety of regions across the world and explored the ends of the earth resulting in major historical impacts.
Somewhere along the way of evolution, humans dreamt of building machines that could imitate their cognitive genius and would help them overcome their limitations. The invention of computers helped humans gather insights through analyzing and comprehending large amounts of data. Thus began humans’ journey into the invention of more and more intelligent machines, which in today’s day and age has reached a point where machines can effectively reflect the ingenuity of a human brain.
( Expert's Viewpoint: The Power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) )
Now human beings are in the age of Artificial Intelligence, which has tipped the scale of technology towards a state of singularity when machines surpass human thinking. Predictions state that AI will make mindboggling leaps in the next 40 to 70 years. However, at this point in time AI-powered machines have the limited intellect of performing and mimicking basic routine and tasks.
Today’s machines are invented, designed, maintained, supervised, and taught by humans to think like a human. Soon, these machines should match the intellectual prowess of humans, at which point, the true collaboration between man and machine can occur. Amplifying human imagination, problems solving and deep-thinking capabilities by several notches are some of the areas that require the assistance of these collaborative bots.
The final step towards human evolution would be embedding AI in our body by implanting smart sensors, chips, and electronic prosthetics. In this final act, we would be moving from unification of man and machine to a higher level of integration.
